![]() | CRF450 hand brake I have been working on getting a dual caliper set-up for my '03 450 but w/o much luck. I purchased an OEM rear caliper & bracket, cut & welded it to my stock bracket, installed a radial front brake lever off a gixxer, installed a new brake line to the 2nd rear caliper & bleed the hell out of it. It sucks, won't stop me for nothing, doesn't even slow me down. I switch the lines between the calipers to test incase I had a bad one but the stopping power was the same - switched back rebleed & still nothing. My pads are good, switched them between each caliper still poor stopping. Rotor is thick & good, no air in the system, have tried another hand brake lever (before the radial) & same results. I can stop myself w/the foot brake, even lock up the rear tire. Any suggestions? I do not have $$ to buy a hand brake kit, that is why I am making it myself. ![]() ![]() |

![]() | Re: CRF450 hand brake I built my own dual caliper setup and tried with to small a master to start with. I have a 14mm on there now off an NC30, but could do with a 1/2 or 13mm. A lot of sportsbikes have 1/2" clutch masters, which would be a good way to go. For details and pics of my setup >>>> http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/post...61-post36.html

![]() | Re: CRF450 hand brake Weld up a front caliper on the rear, instead of that rear caliper, and you will be good to go. The piston is way to small in the crf rear caliper. 1/2 nissan hand brake helps, but it still won't lock up 1 finger till you get a bigger caliper on the back, I run a Braking Supermoto rear caliper and one finger all day long now!! Took me 2 years and hundreds of dollars, and 4 masters to figure it out |
