Re: Ktm Smr Street Conversion Complete

yup i had to get a stator, flywheel, wiring harness, regulator/rectifier, battery, battery box, etc...

I'd highly suggest purchasing an aftermarket DC stator. The stock KTM EXC stator is AC only so the electricals only work when the motor is running.

Its not Cush drive. You can buy a cush drive hub and rubbers from the KTM hard parts catalog for 130 dollars.

Re: Ktm Smr Street Conversion Complete

I was told by the dealer that the 07's have stators.

Re: Ktm Smr Street Conversion Complete

Yup, the '07 EXC's come out of the box street legal...I'm not sure if the stators in them are DC or not...I'd ask the dealer to make sure then order one if it is. Matter of fact I need to do that cuz my stator is an '06 and it wont charge my battery so all my electrical stuff only works with the bike on and the lights are dim. Really sucks.

I'm gonna either order an '07 stator+regulator or send my stator out to TRAILTECH to have it re-wound to DC and get the regulator from them. Whichever is the cheapest route.

I can't seem to stress enough how much it sucks having a total loss electrical system (non-DC). I wish somebody could have warned me about this before I ordered all the electrics for my SMR a few months ago. $$$$ starts adding up quick.

Check out Trailtechs electrical stuff and kickstands--(SMR does'nt come with kickstand):

I'm not sure about the 450's-->Kaiks might know. I have the 560. Top speed is around 120-130mph, cruises aong the highway no problem, I can pass cars real quick, gas tank is uber-tiny. I've never measured but I wanna say maybe 50-60 miles for a full tank? It never costs more than 3 or 4 dollars to fill lol. That sounds expensive on your insurance! I pay 65 dollars per year Liability+Theft. :YEAH <--And thats with an extensive driving record LOL.

lol I know I'm from Connecticut. Bought it at RER 2 years ago. Actually I sold it a few months ago to guy up in Kansas. It was a fun bike but the maintenance ended up being too much for me to enjoy.
