Re: supermoto as daily rider Forget any 450cc supermotard. they're performance machines mainly: the CRF itself won't leave you troublefree for long: it's made for race, and you gotta care for it. KTMs are on the same shelf, while XRs and DR-Zs are just a bit quieter, civilized, reliable: they still are pretty much fun, though.

Re: supermoto as daily rider My friend has a DRZ model. It's a piece of crap! The engine is so dam week it's not even funny. He ended up buying a CR450X and setting it up as a motard. When he went to get it licensed he had the DRZ and this Honda on the trailer. The guy took one look at it and said OK and gave him his plate. He didn't have the brake light hooked up and the tires were NON DOT approved tires on it. Go with a Honda CR450X since it has the Stator already for the lights and the Kits for making it street legal is like 300 dollars.

Re: supermoto as daily rider I think you're forgetting that the 450x comes with dirt tires/brakes/suspension. You'll end up spending 2-3k for wheels, brakes, and revalving suspension for street. Thats a lot more than 300 dollars lol.

Re: supermoto as daily rider You don't have to do much to make it street legal...... Sure, making it a motard and street legal is expensice, but to make a 450x legal to ride on a road isn't bad at all. We've done 3-4 at our shop and it always comes out between $300-$600.
