depends on how much you want to spend--if your tight on cash get a tard thats ready to go used you will save tons of $$$. try the classifieds at http://www.supermotojunkie.com/ there are some sick deals in there right now.

i really want a drzsm but i dont want it to be my only bike. those things are a blast to ride and once you gear them a bit the motor feels nice and peppy

Re: Thinking of gettin a Motard

I do know that the street converted CRF450X models are having gearbox problems. Supposedly when going in a straight line for a long time the gear shafts dont get oil and the gears seize to the shafts. I know a couple people this has happened to and heard of many others. Some people run higher than normal oil heights to help with this but it still happens. It doesnt happen when your riding dirt because your always leaned over and the bumps splash oil on the shafts.

Nice motard how much you want? Is it really street legal. Looking at the pic (unless its old) I dont see a headlight and such hardware needed.

Re: Thinking of gettin a Motard

most ktm can be made legal easily, They have the "good" title.

Unlike a lot of the other brands it isnt offroad use only title so all you have to do is get the lights
