| Wr450/250f? I want a motard and was thinking about one of these. As far as I've heard yamahas are really reliable and great for stunting. This would be something that I'd stunt on the weekends and ride around streets a little bit. What do you guys think of it? 450 or 250? I have an R6 and don't want anything crazy fast. |

| Re: Wr450/250f? 450s are light powerfull and are race bikes so you will need to rebuild every now and then but it will be fun as hell on the street, it always comes down to what you want from it, ethier the yam or honda 450 would be good i bet. |

| Re: Wr450/250f? Motards that'll take a beating ------------------------------ If you want light and powerful, yet for reasonable money your best bet is a WR400/426. 129kg with a full tank of fuel - 47 rwhp standard. More bottom end than thair MX counterparts, and a lower 1st gear (no HUUGE sprocket req'd) 5th's also taller if you want to ride on the road. The 400 has steel valves which mean you'll almost never do the tappets. The 426 has Titanium valves, which'll mean you'll need to look at the tappet clearances once a year. Oil change every 400 miles. -------------------------------------------------- The DRZ SM is a good bet, as it had long service intervals and is bulletproof. Has the lower enduro-style gearing too. The CV carb makes foe an ultra smooth power delivery, and the bike has monster engine brake. Oil change every 1500 miles. They're damn cheap new, and come with wheels and everything already. 145kg with a full tank of fuel - 30 rwhp standard -------------------------------------------------- Also look at CRF-X's, KTM 400/450 EXC's and anything aircooled. Enduro/trail bikes are a much better bet than MX bikes, as they're less peaky, have a lower 1st gear, taller top gear, and more flywheel.

| Re: Wr450/250f? Yeah I'm looking to buy/trade a WR450F the 06 model has titanium valves and the gearing looks pretty good. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...0/0/specs.aspx |

| Re: Wr450/250f? Yamaha has the best motor for valve train reliability. Even the titanium valves are nearly bullet proof compared to other makes. def. go 450 for the street (road is to demanding for a 250) but a 250 is better for stunting So you have to decide whats more important. |

_____ I'd say 450 for the street, or 250 just for stunt. Of course, motard tires all around. | |
