Stoppie tard

i havn't ridden my mtn bike in a pretty long time, but i saw some of the vids on here and decided it was time to bust it out again and start learning to roll stoppies. i am a little rusty but can still do a stoppie at a stop & spin around and bounce on the back tire & shit. but damn i can't roll stoppies for shit maybe 5-10 feet at the most. i'm goin 15-20 mph and then i stand up kinda (more like a squat with my head over the bars) and grab some brake...getting it up is not a problem but keeping it rolling is...my brakes seem too touchy to modulate them gently & i keep flipping or just slowing down fast and rolling one like 20ft but only 8inches off the ground. i see most of you guys are sitting down while rolling stoppies...is it easier to roll them sitting down? i'm not looking for some "secret tips" or anything like that i'm looking for tips on form, i think i'm going about the whole thing wrong. i don't have any vids to post & after looping about 20 of them going pretty fast my head started to get pretty loose and i think my back has a tire mark on it so hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to get back out there after fixing the bike.

PS. Sorry for the very long winded post

Re: Stoppie tard

stoppies r one of those tricks that u just gotta get brave n DO IT.. start slow grab thee shit offa ur front break and see how high you go keep doing it untin you are confourtable with the feeling, then go even higher to the point when you about to jump off if you let go of the break and ur still in the air for like a second or so i dunno ur getting there and after you afe confourtable with this gain some speed grab the break real fast so you come up fast and you dont slow down much when you get it up in the air enough let off the breake a little so u dont flip af the bike starts comming down slowly gently squeez the breake a little more, after time goes by you will do it naturally without even thinking about it you will get the feeling and know exactly when to grab the breake and how to control it.

Re: Stoppie tard

i went back out this weekend for a ride and started to get some short ones...but i think i just need to get a video and see what i look like cause i still think i'm in a weird position. i can find the balance point pretty well if i don't try to roll the stoppie, i can bounce on my front tire once or twice usually, i'm used to the feeling of being up their & i know where its gonna flip. but once i put some speed into it and get the back up there i turn into a retard and who knows whats going to happen. i jumped on the quad and gave it a whirl on that and it was way easier on my quad than my bike to roll stoppies.
