what type of welder?
I'm looking to make my own cages and 12 bars and possibly some frame work down the road. What type of welder(MIG, TIG, whatever) should I use? what type do you guys who make your own cages use? Any help is appreciated

Re: what type of welder?
you can get a mig if you dont know how to weld. if you want to weld aluminum with a mig then you will need a spool gun. a decent cheap mig is around $1000 and the spool gun is around $300. if you really know what you are doing then get a tig but those are around $10,000 for a decent one. a mig is ugly but strong. a tig is for really nice clean looking welds.

for all my other stuff, i have a Hobart Mig welder, Handler 135. It's a 110 volt gas mig welder. I run argon/co2 mix tank with it. I think it was aroung 350$ for the welder, then it's another 65$ for the tank. It welds great and fits perfectly in my trailer. I weld up my mirror stays and bars with them. It's more than i need for that. That is probably what you are looking for unless you want to spend a couple grand.
