What brand and where to buy MX bars?

My buddy's dad owns a machine shop so I'm gonna have him drill the triple clamp, I just need the bar clamps and bar. Anybody have a brand suggestion and where I can buy them?

Re: What brand and where to buy MX bars?

Theres 2 types of bars. 7/8" is normal size. They will bend if they take a hard hit, but you can get them so cheap it almost doesnt matter. Then there are 1-1/8" bars. (Pro taper, Renthal Twinwall, Tag T2, etc) They are much stronger, and almost never bend, but they arent cheap. You can get 7/8 bar clamps on ebay, from any bike from the 70s or 80s, but 1-1/8 clamps need to be purchased from a chaparral catalog or something like that, and cost about $50.

As long as you ain't taking the stuff off a Harley then everything will swap over no problem

Don't be tight, though, eh? Use new grips

I got twinwalls. They've probably hit the pavement a good 50 times and havent bent. Twice, the threads got stripped out of the bar clamps and they still didnt bend. I still keep expecing them to.

Clip ons are 7/8. 1-1/8 bars are also 7/8 at the ends so regular grip/controls fit no problem.
