Message from the sidelines

This is in response to Tony D’s post regarding the big names withdrawing from SL:

http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/show...threadid=53792 (Woods-Gorka-Chauncy and more!!!)

and is directed to all the bigger names who don’t want to be a part of the forum anymore:

I can certainly understand the frustration caused by unnecessary drama, arrogant remarks, and other BS that may come of a popular forum. Maybe as people get bigger they let it get to their head. But I think you kind have to expect that. It come comes with the territory.

Keep in mind though that there are a lot of people watching from the sidelines. People who are inspired and motivated watching the stunt shows. People who may not be pros, but really appreciate the sport. I'm one of those people.

Since I've been on this site I've learned a lot. Even more importantly I found a lot of support which has helped me improve. It's good to have a place where you know other people appreciate/support what you do especially those at the top of the game.

One of the greatest parts about this site is that some of the biggest names in the game are actually members. They actually interact with the site members and give great advice to the beginners like myself. To me that means a lot and really encourages me to improve my riding. It is great to be able to learn from and interact with some of the best riders. It makes a no-name like myself actually feel like I'm part of the sport and not just someone who hasn't "made it".

I think that this is really important for those of us who are just starting out. It would really be a real shame for all the bigger names in the sport to just back out of this site because of a handful of A-holes that happen to be members. Focus on what you have done for the site and stunting. Don't let some lame posts here and there ruin it for yourself and those of us who actually are trying to learn and appreciate stunting.

Ultimately the choice is up to you. But don’t forget that this is the only real connection for the many “low-profile” riders who appreciate what you guys do. Don’t overlook those of us that watch from the other side of the fence.

Arrow there goes thread nazi Redlinejimmy running his mouth again with nothing good to say!

sungwei - you make a good point my man, A perspective from the other side of the fence. but at the end of the day I think it all comes back to the fact that business can destroy any partnership. and thats what stunting becomes to a professional rider, business.

imagine if all the energy invested into drama was instead put out in riding?!! wonder if the europeans beef like this.

from what ive heard , europeons dont even hang out with eachother or even speak to one another, at a europeon event theres no such thing as an after party where all the riders are hangin out, kinda makes ya feel good that isnt how it is over here

Kind of a long winded reply. And I felt that whole drama was directed toward certain people. Maybe people who have been here a while. Plus I just wanted to make the point that this place is cool cause everyone on this board communicates on all levels. Just a point of view from a non-pro.

I don't wanna say I'm intimidated. That's not the most accurate word. I just felt what I had to say might be out of place.

I don't PM certain people about "How-to-stunt" questions. I just don't feel comfortable. But there are some at the upper level that are very supportive and give good feedback and I wouldn't be afraid to ask.

Most Pro riders expect a certain amount of questions. They have to know they have fans on here or how toos that are gonna be asked. Some even pride there selves on answering questions.

I have found some cool and some not so cool. Both would surprise u. Not gonna name em...I dont work that way.

I dont have a problem asking anyone anything....Thats one of the points Tony D made is good luck trying this stuff on your own. But sometimes u ask em something and they dont respond...so I guess good luck on learning it on my own . huh...

I asked someone a question that they could of answered in four words=no reply

I'm in my 30s... Im comfortable w/who I am....Not afraid to ask anyone sh!t...Ya know Never too old/young to learn something new.

I agree w/ya some of these guys on here ruin it for the ones who want to learn new things stunts/mechanics.

I think alot of the B.S. though is between the riders its not all just the fans or posers.

True, true. I feel you on that. The people I have PMed (non "high profile") and asked questions have respond immediately and with great answers that really helped.

A lot of people complain about this site, but I think it's one of the best things that happened for me stuntwise. Ever since I've been a member I haven't stopped thinking about stunts. That isn't entirely a good thing, but it just goes to show you how motivating it can be.

I'm really glad it's not like that here! Hell, I like to party as much as I like to ride. That's really the best part of our sport as I see it, the fact that when it's comp time everybody puts on their game face and is serious, but, as soon as your done everybody is still freinds win or lose, then it's time to party!

i never would diss someone or something on a computer without a little humor to it
stunting puts a smile on my face and thats why i do it, not for headaches....
if you know me you know i like to laugh and thats what i do..... laugh!!!!!!!!!!!
i'll continue to laugh when riding wheelies and when hearing and seeing people act , well lets just say different they really are.
