Question How many of you stunters can also kneedrag?

Guys,
I was reading a thread here that seemed to get off course a little bit...BUT it did bring up an interesting topic. Do stunters hate kneedraggers and visa-versa? The majority of my team, are both efficient at both stunting and kneedraggin and we enjoy both.

So what does everyone think about this issue?

How many of you stunters out there can also kneedrag well?

Also, if you can, do you think it is as challenging as stunting? (If you also stunt of course)

This is not intended to start a fight, but I am very curious. I know alot of stunters personally who can stunt but couldn't ride a bike through the corners well to save their lives. I also know as many kneedraggers who can't stunt well. Just want to see what the stunt world feels about this issue!

JAGMAN

BTW...I want to see pics of stunters draggin knees...here is one of me and one of my guys!

JAG I THINK IM ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO REPLIED TO THE EARLIER (sorry just realized the caps lock was on) thread u spoke of and just to clarify my point of view, do i dragg knee NO do i stunt well im workin on it on the bike but ive been known to throw the occasional (short and not very tall ) endo or wheelie on the street on the bike. but ive got to be honest when i say that i really think though both are better left to a controlled enviornment i really feel its safer for the rider and those around him or her to stunt on the streets than to be draggin knee in a corner in the streets bangin corners theres just to manty other variables that u throw in and though yes there are variables in the stunt aspect i gotta stick to my guns on this one but thats just my opinion and there aint no book of scott in the bible!!!!!!!!!!

Crazy Dan... Your response was sweet man! The Ape Hangers are definitly draggin knees so you are official! :D

Seriously...I want to take the "stupid" or "dangerous" out of this question. We all know both can be "stupid" and "dangerous" if done in the wrong place. It is MUCH more dangerous to ride 85mph High Chairs up the highway with traffic barraling behind you than it is to go to the middle of the West Virginia mountains kneedraggin where you are lucky to see a car every 10-15 minutes. The flip to this is it is MUCH more dangerous to be kneedraggin in a populated area where a kid or car could run out in front of you any minute, than it is to pull a sweet stoppie at a traffic light or something like that!

See what I am saying? Both can be "stupid" and "dangerous" !!! I am not curious about if you think it is "stupid" or "dangerous", I want to know if stunters like draggin knees and kneedraggers like stunting!?

Would love to see some kneedraggin pics...and DAN...you can post your Ape Hanger, cause that counts in my book!

Same here, I did 3 seasons of roadracing, until I discovered stunting. I only went to 1 race and 1 track day this summer. I had more fun going to our spot and try new tricks. and I didn't had to wake up at 6am on sunday morning not to miss the riders meeting :p

road racing is cool if you have tha opportunity----this is a big country many of us live in cramped cities(im in bronx)others live in tha middle of no were!!!! what corners!!!!!!! it gets boring if u live in nevada doin 160mph for 5 straight miles!!!!!!!! and if u got skill it takes time --how many of us live near a race track???????how many have time or money to travel???????? stuntin- walk outside theres your track and its free and when and how u want and u can make a vid and sell it --its a way of life --thats what were doin(rollazs -break tha mold)and its a way of life -i go to my local pizza joint do a 12oclock then a endo then power slide to a 180 then drop my furred out bike on tha side walk and eat my slice on it on tha floor!!!! you cant drag your knee on a cramped straight street with train tressels over head---and i think dragin knees is tha real danger ---at nite YA RITE!!!! or what about sand??? grooves??? deer???? or how about on tha track its a mile of grass after tha sand trap not to mention tha full leather!!! the semi comin is not leather friendly!! tha stuntin revolution here is so popular cause it answered so many questions for lost riders---and way keep it gangsta-- l8tr

All good feedback...

So far it is not hating kneedraggin...it is just not having the time or ability to go to the track or into the mountains. I spend 10x's the amount of time stunting as I do kneedraggin, but it is always entertaining to drag knees when you get the chance. At my shows, I drag knees on the dragstrip going in circles in first gear People get a real KICK out of seeing a guy do this on a drag strip. I think it is a great "stunt" and I definitly don't see it much!

Any other kneedraggers out there like to stunt?

Heres one of me at Texas world speedway. Speaking of stunt/racing, Sportbikehype has both a stunt team and a race team.

Actually, I got involved in the Road Racing gig right after I got interested in sportbikes. I spent I think 3 years in it. Then discovered the Starboyz. So I decided to find out what was going on with this Liars. yea, I actually thought they were lieing when I saw their two Part Interview on TV. Shortly after that, I got involved with them, and saw with my own to eyes what I felt was a bit more exciting in a different way. So i then forgot about Road Racing, and got involved in this stunt gig. I knew it would sooner or later pay off and its starting too.

But being able to Road Race takes alot of skill. Its hard to put a number on it, but I would think Road Racing is a harder tail to learn and be great at. YOur taking chances in mutli ways all at fast rates of speed...the room for error is very slim compared to stunting...

put nevertheless, stunting is funner to watch....well until Moto GP begans...I cant wait to watch Nicky and Rossi go the F at it...let alone Maxx and Colin etc....now those are a group of one of the best riders in the world....

I still love road racing hehee

Roadracing and Stunting

This is how IIIIIIII feel, and maybe not everyone will agree.
Background:
I am a Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor, I have been since I was 20 (yeah I know, youngest ever in the history of MSF). I am the lead instructor in the area.

I own a Roadrace School, Team Speedy Gonzales Safety School.

I own a Roadrace team, Team Speedy Gonzales. My father and I race together.
We have been fortunate enough to win a Championship and a #3 plate in 2001.

I just started stunting a few months ago. GSXR750 and sold my 900rr. Better than average for MY AREA, which is not saying much. Stoppies 80', wheelies, burn-outs, etc. NOT planning on making a living at it.

I see a motorcycle as a challenge, no matter what kind of riding. I love to learn more. I have never seen it as US VS. THEM. It is sad to hear people hate others because they are different. Whenever I hear that I am like "Yeah, I stunt too" Most people are impressed/respect stunts, their piss is when they are done on public streets, no helmets, etc. Same thing with draggin knee. I Luse a friend or two a year to our local twistie road, and I hate seeing their parents at the hospital when they find out. I think that is why we fight the general public and cops.
I am an advocate of safety and I do my best to minimize my risk of getting hurt and having time away from my bike. More and more group stunt in an area they are allowed, track, etc. We have an industrial park when the cops come and watch. I choose to do it in a designated spot and so do most of the stunters I know.
Long ass answer to a short question.

Please, lets all just group hug.

yes yes i can join in on both !!!! I love alll the shit ..dragggin knee can be even more dangerious than stunting... Losing it at 180k you bike gets much more fucked up than if you flip your bike at 30k ...But they both can be stupid and dangerous...and thats why we love these lil beasts so much!!!

i also used to kneedrag then i discovered stunting. what kyle said is exactly what i did (leathers are going on e-bay now). racing is definetly more dangerous, if you race it is a guarantee that you will wreck it is not if you just do a few stunts here and there. plus like everyone else said it is so much cheaper to stunt. i think a big reason that so many more people wreck racing is because it appears safer to lean the bike just a liiiiitle bit further than it does to grab a handfull of brake at 60. personally i started to stunt because of the cheaper cost but mostly becaue racing was not giving me that thrill i needed anymore i had to move on to a more satisfying trade. to me stunting is also harder. dont forget also its hard to get a fair arguement about racing when the forum is about stunting there are probably not too many racers on this one. good question though!

i dont have kneepucks or leathers , so i just drag my hand in the corner. good way to ruin perfectly fine gloves though.

I think the question has been awnsered but ill put in my opinon too. i accually did it the other way around, i stunted before i got on the track. about 2mo. after i got my first street bike i was trying to pick up the front wheel. not the smartest thing but stunting is something i picked up quick and my passion but i still love to throw sparks with my titanium sliders and get on one of the two tracks around me any chance i get.
im also a photographer where i sell pics on the track and stunting. so yea i can and do both.
