wheelie r6 to 954

Ok here is the thing i am ridin a 02 r6 now and my new bike coming next week is an 02 954, i had a vtr 250 where i could easily put up in second with control but not a pro on it, still was working on bp. on my r6 everytime i put it up the handle bar would turn to the side an i set it back down before it comes up to high but when i get my 954 i want to get my wheelie down pack or should i have continue to practice on a 600, i have riden litre bikes but never tried to stunt them because they were not mind but i hear its easier with a litre bike then with a 600, any feed back on this would be greatly appreaciated.
p.s should i get a steering dampner

I stunt an 02 954. Hers some answers for you.

Stunting a 954 is easier than a 600.. Just be VERY CAREFUL if you clutch first gear wheelies or your asking to loop it. Powering 1st gear wheelies up is easy easy easy. 2nd gear/3rd gear clutch wheelies are a piece of cake too.

A scotts damper on a 954 is THE BEST THING YOU COULD EVER DO! I have one and I would NEVEr stunt or even ride a 954 without a scotts. I dont know why anyone would. Its the biggest luxury you could purchase for your bike and its saved my life many times.

Just remeber to take things slow. Get USED tot he bike first before you stunt it. Its a big change from 600 to 954.

Bro.. lovetheroad just told u everything how its... u dont need any more advice.

I had an r6 before and my wheelies where complete gabbage... i unno why ( well yeah i do.. cuz i suck) but i didnt have a damper on it or anything... that shit shakes like no other... but then again u have people like ERIK from stunters.com .. ripping circles and anything else with his R6..
Now I have an 02 954.. 1ST THING U NEED IS A SCOTTS OR OHLINS DAMPER. ... DO NOT ride it without it... biggest head shake i've ever felt in a bike..... make sure u check with honda to see if the head bearings recall has been taken care of.. and the muffler hangers too ... (or something like that about the muffler)
1st gear power wheelies are easy as hell.. but be carefull and cover ur rear brake big time... it took me a bit to get used to it.. but im there now... 2nd gear no clutch.. easy as well... 3rd gear.. no clutch and bounce... or clutch it... im practicing 3rd gear clutch with now cuz i want to bring it up to the BP and just be able to ride em slow ..
The brakes are so damn good... so get used to it too ... really powerful... im putting braided brake lines (galfers) on mine right now too ...
So.. good luck with ur new bike and be careful.

i have a 01 F4i and a 03 954.....equipped with a scotts damper you can pull the front end all the way over backward in 3rd if ya want to you dont need to cluth it either. Ive never cluthc a 2nd or 3rd gear with it i can bounce the F4i in third with no clutch too. just take it slow man its a huge power difference. but get the damper. i could not do a stoppie to save my life with out a damper it would tank slap every time. good choice on the 954 from a yami. hope ya have lots of fun and you will have no problems getting used to it. very comfy bike for wheelies and riding.
