Best things to practice?
Best things to practice?
What should I focus on when first trying to stunt? My goal is to learn circle wheelies and stoppies, eventually highchairs, should I practice in 1st or 2nd gear to start learning wheelies and should I stagger or sit down?
Re: Best things to practice?
first thing... get your stunt bike set up to ur preference.. IMO learn 1 gear first... its an easier transition to go from 1st to 2nd then from 2nd to 1st... (if that even makes sense) if your just starting out lower ur rear tire PSI to about 25.. as u get better increase by 5 until u get to around 35 and then thats where u wanna be.
learn straight line wheelies first.. learn how to apply the handbrake to slow ur wheelies down to a nice slow speed...Try all stand up seat stander and sit down... once you get comfortable try straight line combos.. (seat stander to spreader) once u get use to moving around on one wheelie in a straight line... circles will come... and doing circle combos will come easier cause ur already use to moving around..

Re: Best things to practice?
I disagree with the rolling start part I learned coming up from a dead stop. If your not at BP within 20 or 30 feet set it down your going to fast at that point and the throttle gets touchy.
Re: Best things to practice?
+1, dead stop is the best not rolling. you want to get use to the front wheel coming up quick and that also gives u more incentive to use your brake to bring it back. Basicly from dead stop clutch up, and brake to bring back down. repeat many times till it takes less gas to keep the wheelie going at a slow speed while using your brake to control it.
Re: Best things to practice?
If ur gonna try from dead stop just be a lot more cautions cause the bike is going to come up a lot faster..

Does the tire pressure make a big difference?
Re: Best things to practice?
my bikes also a DD so is it ok on the tire to maybe lower the psi when stuntung and filling it back up when im just riding, or can i drive on it a little low?

Re: Best things to practice?
thats kinda the point..... from a dead stop yes you can 12 easier but thats what is going to teach you your break control quicker so you dont. doing wheelies on the go imo is just gonna get you in more trouble. which would you rather have a banged up bike or you??? learning from a dead stop will help prevent you from chasing the wheelie and it end up being a pow pow and you crashing from that which could end up with you in the hospital. i mean either way you gonna crash the bike eventually anyways so why do it at 10-20 mph when you can drop it at somewhere between 5-10 mph
