Sprocket & chain question

How do you figure out how many links are needed for a certain tooth variation? I'm about to do a 16/46 for the street. And I need to know how many teeth I need. I have a chain but don't know if it's too short. And instead of switching the sprockets now and measuring it up then finding out that it's too short and haveing to order another chain and switching sprockets back till it comes in and yada yada yada..Just though I'd ask to save myself the headach...any input would be great

Re: Sprocket & chain question

Just get a whole kit and it will come cut to length.

Re: Sprocket & chain question

it's for a 08 600RR....I have a 520 kit on it right now but I ate a **** load of teeth off of it and I'm gonna go back to the stock 525 other then a 46 tooth on the back until I have the money to buy another 520 -1 +4 like I have now.. I am putting the stock front on and a 46 on the back and I'm pretty sure that the stock chain is too short to fit around that 46. I was need to know what I need for it..

Re: Sprocket & chain question

You can cut a chain with a dremel, takes a minute as opposed to an angle grinder. Usually you can get an angle grinder at a pawn shop or harbor frieght for 20$ and do it your self which will save you from paying a shop.
