Flip the Clip

I know this may be a stupid question.....

I think I'm sick of the dirtbike bars. Want to go back to clip-ons. However the last time I had clip-ons, I had Vortex (50mm, 8degree) and them somebitches would hit the air duct covers. Searching ebay, and there are plenty of $100 clip ons out there, but they are all 8-10 degrees. If I flip these will it be suffice? Or should I just buy FI Zero Degree Ons? I like the feel of stock, but they are not long enough for HB set up and switch housing. Input appreciated. Especially if there is less expensive zero degree out there.

Re: Flip the Clip

I like the feel of the stock because they have a 2" rise to feel like the stock F4i clip-ons. Can't flip stockers on the 954/929 because of this rise. Well, I guess technically I can, but it would beat the **** out of the fairings and air ducts. Seriously considering just selling the 954 and buying an 09 636 while we have them so damn cheap. Should have sold it years ago when they were still pulling $7-8k, but that means I would have a P.O.S. now. IDK... I like GSXR 600's (had both 06 Gixxer 600 and 06 ZX6....liked the GSXR better...but they were both stock).

I know what you mean about the hurting your hands thing. When I first had the Vortex, they killed my wrist until I got the angle I liked down. Same thing when I switched to DB bars. I roll cheap *** MSR bars now. The first ones I had were Renthal Streetfighters, it murdered my wrists.... Plus they bent all to hell the first time I dumped the bike. Sucked because they were $85 my cost ($119 retail) and they lasted less than a week. Now I roll the MSR's because if I dump it....who gives a ****. My cost on them is $11.... and again...I got that kinda bread. Don't mean to scoreboard anyone, but I could even afford $12 bars if I was hard pressed.

Re: Flip the Clip

If you run any quality clip-on that you can clamp any 7/8" bar into the clamp, then you can just purchase 7/8" aluminum rod and cut off any length bar you want..

CHEAP! That way you don't have to worry about breaking clip-ons

Speaking of which, I'm still on the same set of CHEAP *** pro-tek clip-ons that I got for FREE, after 2 years of stunting. still haven't bent them. But they are junk

edit: If you can't trust him because of his avatar, then don't trust me. I have a bunch of Guy wires holding my bike in the air, I can't actually wheelie. We just have big support towers around my bike with invisible cables that run down to hold me into awesome stunt positions.

Re: Flip the Clip

oh... I thought that was just photoshopped. LOL. I know a guy who takes all his myspace/facebook pics like that for real though.

I just checked out the SI clip ons on HAI's site. I'm wondering if those would stick out too far forward??? My suppliers at work don't carry SI... So, if I ordered them, I'm committed.. Don't want to make a freaking $160 mistake. It ended up costing me about $300 to put the DB bars on. Several local guys told me not to, but I'm a dumbass and had to find out for myself. Cool if I just wanted to ride around, very comfortable. Distance wheelies suck now though because I just can't get the BP down like I used to. Jump on my buddy's 954 that is stock, and kill it for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles and miles....sometime even in a poppawheelie.

Re: Flip the Clip

OK, check these out.... they are ZERO degree for $99 plus $15.42 shipping (which is higher than giraffe ***** for 2 lbs), so I'm gonna check Parts Unlimited and Tucker Rocky tomorrow... If I can't get it through them for cheaper I'm gonna sport this guys clip-ons. Seem pretty good, tell me what you think.

Re: Flip the Clip

I like my SI sidemounts a lot, the 0* feel fine to me. I don't think you will be disappointed. I ran mine on top of the triple to get height similar to DBbars. I'm glad I went with the sidemounts because I think the front mount would have made a more forward leaning riding position for me and the side mounts give me a more upright riding position.

Re: Flip the Clip

this is what i got, it feels great for me and its nice and wide stance, they dont touch the ground when the bike is over. i can fit a hb set up on it but id have to take off the bar ends and shorten the grips, im still saving up for the Full throttle dual caliper.

That ebay listing lists a whole bunch of bikes and not the diameter of forks they fit, and I'm betting all them bikes don't run the exact same size of forks..

Re: Flip the Clip

I had to chop my f4i fairing WAY down to fit straight clip-ons

I had to cut my fairing down MORE with clip-ons then I did with MX bars lol...
