how to toggle switch your f4i ignition...
some one sticky this please...
so i got it togeather finally. radioshack got the (5.1 zener diode) and the (1 watt 1k ohm 5% resistor) you need. the ignition consists of four wires. ones the constant 12v, two go to the junction box(fuses), and then theres that damned pink wire. well i ran a 30amp toggle switch with on side going to the 12v wire and the other side going to the two junction box wires and an extra one hanging that i will conect to the pink...
now take that wire from the toggle and connect it to the zener diode, than take the black ring side of the zener and connect it to the resistor, than take the brown ring side of the resistor and connect it to the pink wire. make sure you solder and tape everthing nice and clean! put the bike back to geather and flip on the toggle and youll hear that sweet sound of that fuel pump priming!!! need any help pm me. and if you plan to use this info to steal a bike your a complete douch bag and i hope someone shoots you. well back to the lab for me, got some motor swappin to do.

ythe resistor is like 1.50 and the diodes are even cheaper. when getting toggle switch make sure its a 30 amp or better. got toggle switch from auto parts store.

Re: how to toggle switch your f4i ignition...
good write up!
Bought a F4 for the GF that wasn't running....the bike would turn over strong, but had no spart. Traced the whole iginition system and spark system and keys/kill switch, everything was according to the manual, all electronics were with in their limits. BUT THE BIKE wouldn't produce a spark!
I swapped out another ignition tumbler from a buddy's F4 I was working on, wala! spark!
Turns out that this a common issue with HONDA's that don't produce spark, ppl say its the timing pick up unit, but usually its this little guy.
YOU HAVE TO USE A Zenod diode......without it, the bike will turn over, but won't have spark.
i didn't know you guys needed this info, i would've written this up sooner.

Re: how to toggle switch your f4i ignition...
It's zener diode and when it is placed in a circuit it cuts down the voltage. A 5.1 zener diode would reduce the voltage by 5.1 V. It is actually placed in the circuit reversed from how a normal diode would be. Unlike a normal diode, a zener diode will flow electricity in both directions. It will pass full voltage in one direction and if you exceed the breakdown voltage (5.1V here), it will flow the other direction but will cut the voltage by the amount of the breakdown voltage. It's basically a voltage regulator for low power circuits.

Any pics or drawings?
My bike died when I accidently hit the starter button while it was running and the fuses and solenoids are good. I'm assuming it may be the ignition so I gathered the parts, just not sure how you wired it up.
