Has anyone had their bent rims straightened before. How much was it and where can I get it done at. 05-06 636 front rims are pricey

Re: wheel straightening

If you just have a bent lip or something, block of wood and hammer like he said

but really its aluminum, your not supposed to bend it, it likes to snap. Your probably better off leaving it bent or finding a used wheel somewhere

Re: wheel straightening

Ive had my car rims straightened before and it was like new. Dont remember which company I used but theres a shitload of companies out there.

http://www.google.com/search?q=motor...ient=firefox-a

Average cost is $100 so youre better off just finding a new rim. I did it for expensive car rims - I wouldnt spend the $100 on a motorcycle rim.

if it holds air its straight enough

but for real though if its just the lip beat it back and go thats what ive done in the past, but if your wheel is bent and the structural integrity of the wheel is compromised i would find a new one because stunt abuse will most likely bring the problem area back because where it was straightened back would be i weak spot... i would think

Re: wheel straightening

If you have access to a lathe with a large chuck and a good aluminum welder you could do it yourself. wouldnt be that hard. I have called local rim repair shops and most of them dont have the tooling for bike wheels. There is a place in the back of motorcycle magazines that advertises bike rim repair.

whoa what?

what do you need a lathe or a TIG for to straighten a wheel? two tools that shouldn't be in the straightening process

That's like saying "I need a chainsaw and a bottle of jack to change my car tire"
