Need some advice!

Hello, first off my name is Brett. Just started in this game. I have an 08 Gixxer 600 w/750 swap. Today I took some tips I read on here and started my clutch up wheelies. Had a quite a bit of success. Anyways, I would like to set this bike up to make it a little easier (manageable) on me. Right now the bike is mostly stock. I dont wanna add any power, it has plenty to get the job done. I want to get a cage, 12 oclock bar and learn how to do slow stunts.

So what is a good starting point with sprockets? And whats a good rear tire pressure to start out with? I notice with 36lbs in the rear my bike likes to pull hard right. I put more focus into my body positioning and it still was pulling right. I heard that running lower tire pressure helps keep it straight. And what about suspension setup for the compression and rebound on the front and rear? I know I will have to figure out what works best for me but a good starting point would be great! Any advice is greatly appreciated!

-Brett

Re: Need some advice!

if your bike is pulling, its normally due to your body positioning. but since you said you worked on that and it didnt help, i would suggest you check your rear tire and make sure that it isnt out of alignment. also check the wear on your tire. if it is worn unevenly, that may cause it. as far as the pressure, i would suggest at least dropping to 32 if not lower. for sprockets, keep it stock at first. if you go with a huge sprocket in the ass end, it will just be a lot more twitchy.

as for the suspension, that all depends on your weight and personal preference and i wouldnt know where to begin telling you on that.

and for practice, just hit up a parking lot(empty) and practice.

hope this helps a little bit

Re: Need some advice!

i lowered my tire to about 18 when i first started to ride wheelies but now i have it up a little so i can steer it. and you dont have to go crazy with the sprockets but like -1+2 might help a little without making it too touchy. but what works for one person might not for someone else. just practice ALOT!

good luck

Re: Need some advice!

Dont be afraid to drop that tire pressure way down, unless your going to be doing tons of street riding. Once you get the hang of that, pump it up to make urself even better. But if you want my opinion, sell that thing and get an already set up bike. a 750 swap isnt an ideal stunt bike, plus I imagine the bike is pretty nice which is gonna cause you to spend more time caring about the condition of your bike, rather than improving your game...just my .02

Oh Hello Mr. Brett,It's nearly impossible to steer a whoolie when your chasin it,get it higher to steer.Try clutchin up from a dead stop or very slow roll, get it as close to or just behind BP as possible and catch it with your brake,If you don't get it high enough then don't bother chasin it,set it down,do it again and again and again until you find that sweet spot.good luck.

I have uneven wear. I turn harder in right turns. Ill just bring the tire pressure down till she straightens up.

I guess I need to find out stock setting for the suspension then, I use to drag race this bike and the setting are all hard now. Now I have an 09 Busa that is now my drag bike. There arent any turns here so figured Id put the bike to work learning how to stunt.

I just feel like the bike doesnt have enough torque, Ill try adding 3 or 4 teeth first and see how the bike feels. What benefits are there with the huge 50+ tooth sprockets?

Its just a bike to me, all I care about is breaking it to where I cant practice anymore. Thats why a cage and 12 oclock bar is one of the first things on my list.
