Re: SCS - Josh @ Star Custom Seats = Bad Business

I usually dont do this and butt in, But Josh is a good guy and a personal friend.

1st seats are made for your butt, not your feet. Reguardless of what they are made of or for its still fabric and eventually its gonna tear.

2nd you pick your own materiels

3rd The '$250" argument is kinda weak considering a rear tire is $160 bucks and can last a day depending. Nothing last forever! Granted you would expect longer than 4 weeks but ounce again your standing on it moving your feet around.... maybe your type of shoes coupled with how you stand on your bike is more abusive than the way sean parrish rides?

I hate when people bad mouth somebody over something so small, Its not like it blew apart and foam is falling out...100's of satisfied customers, but one unsatisfied and its hate fest.

I'm with you 100% on getting a recover for cost of materials, but I can see where Josh is coming from also. Nothing he did caused your seats to rip like that. Your gonna say the fabric sucks, he's gonna say your shoes are sand paper. I agree with you though, cuz parrish's seats do look of better quality.

Hard spot to be in, Id think if he wanted to keep a good rep that maybe he would suck it up and do the recover but I can't blame him for not doing it.
No one ever offered to pay for material... So before everyone get their panties in a bunch...ya your shoes probably are sandpaper. Look at EVERY other review of my work and materials. HMM....Parrish's seats are the same material...same bike. Why arent his beat up? POINT MADE. If you buy a cage, and the powdercoat chips, is the manufacturer gonna say "AHH shit man, my bad....let me repowdercoat that for ya for free..." Doubtful. I was never asked to redo the cover at cost of material....

Re: SCS - Josh @ Star Custom Seats = Bad Business

I had my seats done by starr also. The staples he used were too long and poked holes through the material the first day I got them back. I just kept riding with them for most of the summer. Now the foam is all shredded. I sent them back to him because he said he would warranty them. After a month I just had a local friend pick them up and ship them back to me. He never even opened up the box. I recovered them myself for $6.00 in material from Joann Fabrics. They are holding up better than what he did and it took me an hour to do

I got my 2 seats covered by Josh @ SCS about 2 Months ago for close to $250. After about 4 weeks the Material on the left side started falling apart. Im 5"5 130 so my weight did not play a factor in the damage here. I hit Josh up on myspace he said by the looks the material started falling apart and he wanted some better pictures. I sent him some detailed pics and he stated the obious that the material it self is the issue not his "craftmanship" so basicly he used some grabage ass material and since his seams are good he cant help me out. What is his solution to the problem? He proceeds to tell me to color my $250 seats in with a fucking sharpie marker. Its only the material used on the left hand side, the right side is perfect. The faded look is dirt its not material just to be fair and honest.

Its not like I wanted a refund, a recover for the cost of the material would have been acceptable. I only used this guy after seeing Parrish's seats in person and they looked gangster, his have alot more use and still look perfect. I was not so lucky..

Price went up to $250 now? Wow...I was thinking it was more like $200

His myspace says - We are among to top upholstery specialists in the county, and guarantee all of our work.

I wear C1RCA skateboard shoe's, I have been riding for a little over 7 months and there no way in hell I abuse my seat more than someone whos all over the bike back and forth like he rides.

I have the same exact material Parrish has, his still look new one side of my seat looks new, the other just fell apart. Also the fabric is not torn or ripped, the leather top has come off of the under skin that holds it together. Theres 1 tiny little spot thats ripped thats happened after the top was gone and nothings holding it together anymore.

What does a $160 dollar tire have to do with anything?

Telling others about Bad Business is not bad mouthing someone, sorry the guy is your friend but bad business is bad business

You do make a vaild point my friend. I AM a "REAL" business owner however....and I DO know what I AM doing. "double seam stitch stretched the material to tight"....are you an upholstery guy? Didnt think so...doesnt work like that...even if you want to beleive that it does. I didnt choose the material used on those seats. I DO make an "Ultimate" stunt seat. And YES I would warranty that entire seat. BUT...its the material that I...MYSELF chose to use, and it IS VERY VERY strong. However....its not the material this fella chose to use.

+1, I covered mine with thick really grippy vinyl, easy to do, just need a staple gun. Still looks pimp after 2 years, maybe 3.

2- Your the business whos product failed, you make the resolutions not the consumer.

3- Its plain for eveyone to see in the myspace message you said "cant help you bro" post whatever feedback where ever you like. Now that ppl are not gonna buy your shit you suddenly care.

I did open the box. I was in the middle of a shop move bud. I said I would redo them and I would have stuck to my word. Sorry If I cant do everything on everyone else's watch. I will STILL do them for you. Just call me and we will set something up. Sorry about all that
