Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
Okay now for a long time I do all my street wheelies riding the rear brake, dip it to 12, dip it back whatever...find the sweet spot an just ride the brake at like 11 o'clock. I never experienced brake fade an never looped because of that.
Some guy on another forum who stunts was arguing with me that doing what I do was not proper.
Am I really suppose to try an float the bike with just throttle, an just catch it with the back brake? I love riding the back brake throughout the wheelie an love the way it feels and the control I have.

holding the brake the whole time you are riding a fast wheelie can definatly boil your fluid causing brake fade and that is a recipe for disaster ...
Re: Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
any thing above an idle wheelie should be done with engine brake , meaning you should keep your rpm's high enough so that when you let off the gas the engine will pull you back down but cover the brake incase you get going to slow for the engine brake to work ...

Wow really? **** well I don't even ride the streets anymore but damn that's some bullshit that I've been doing them like that forever.
Re: Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
i have seen people with there rotors glowing for what seemed like for ever and not have a problem but then i have watched a buddy loop out his r1 after a minute or so from draging the brake ...you have been lucky
Re: Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
might want to change your brake fluid too because after it gets hot too many times the temp that it boils at will get lower and lower
Re: Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
Why ask stupid questions. Would you drive your car down the highway with the brakes held on and think thats ok or normal ? What do you think will happen
Just because your doing a wheelie now its majically fine drag brakes and it wouldn't have the same effect as if you were just riding normally down the highway ? Just STOP AND THINK for two seconds before you talk ok..

thats not too bad and not too fast but you're murdering that brake for sure and then you're powering through the brake withe the gas so you need to get smoother with the gas and then you will need less break ...
the trick is to make your corrections sooner , the instant you feel the bike dropping in too far get off the gas a little ...
basicly if you make your corrections sooner then they wont have to be big corrections meaning if it starts to come down the sooner you catch it the less gas it will take to get it back up and the sooner you catch it falling back the less brake it will take to save it ...
eventually a bystander wont even be able to tell you're making corrections be cause they will be such small corrections ....

Go back to choking on your moms dick
Re: Am I doing street wheelies the right way??
thats the right way for the streets, I dont see how else anyone can rock wheelies that slow on the street without being on and off the brake. OMR probably thought you ment coasting at 60 or so mph on the highway, in that case BP should be enough to keep you up there with limited rear brake.

I use to power through the brake at like 65 for loooong ways too though.
But damn I thought all those off peg combo's with HB were with constant pressure on the HB to keep everything smooth.
