Tried the GMAX????

I was in a local Bike shop today trying to find a new helmet. I currently have an HJC CL-14 and never really have been very happy with the fit or the style or the venting.

THey had these new helmets on display so I tried one on and really liked the fit and the look. It was $119 too wich made me a little weary.

I'm not an impulse buyer so I thought I'd research a little before buying a piece of crap.

I found this review:

I'm curious has anybody tried one out yet. I really like the idea of some good airflow with this 100 degrees down here it almost ain't worht riding some days.

GMAX has scored high reviews from notable companies. People always hate what they dont know. GMAX also has I believe 4 different helmet classes, their moto gp helmet is up in the $400 range. I would say the base is similar to KBC HJC models.

I dont know of anyone who has crashed in one. Im sure the results will be the same as any other helmet in its class. I've went down quite a few times and my helmet only gets slightly scratched. I rock a Z1R, a Wiki, Shoei, and a KBC. All feel the same to me!

Re: Tried the GMAX????

Yeah as long as it feels comfortable and would keep my skull safe I'd be happy. I don;t ride the street at all anymore so I just want low weight and lots of ventalation.

I've riden with so many different borrowed brands and my favorite has been the $400 Shoei of course. I know I hate the HJC's.

If I don't buy the Shoei from my buddy this week I'm gonna give ths thing a try.

Re: Tried the GMAX????

This was a quote form the consumer review:

From "K.D.": "On Jan. 23, 2008 my red, white and blue Gmax helmet kept my head from being crushed. The Missouri Highway Patrol Report "states": Traveling at a speed 130mph+ "on my 1200 Yamaha V-max" failed to negotiate a left hand curve to travel off the right side of roadway striking a ditch ejecting the driver head first...

I was released from the hospital on Jan. 24 with some internal head injury. If this helmet would not (have) held up, I wouldn't be here to write this letter today. My Gmax helmet has only scratches and a missing face shield. Gmax is the only helmet I will ever wear..."

Re: Tried the GMAX????

Wiki is the **** for weight and ventilation, easily 1-2 pounds lighter than my old shoei. **** weighs in at just under 3 pounds.

Re: Tried the GMAX????

as far as lightweight and comfort goes SUOMY is the gangsterist helmet i ever wore. right now i wear an arai quantum which works nice. if you want quality you have to pay for it. there are tons of garbage helmets out there and i refuse to wear them especially the amount of time a helmet spends on your head you deserve the best.
