Which 08 600 should I buy?

So I finally have the money together to get a new bike for the streets and I can't decide which one to get. I really like the zx6r but I keep hearing how all the power is up top and it sucks on the street compared to the 600rr. Then there's the 600rr which is has more midrange power but I really don't like the way 600rr's feel when riding wheelies after riding an 03. I don't know anyone with either bike so a test ride is out of the question. Some advice from people who have actually ridden the new zx6r or 600rr would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Which 08 600 should I buy?

I like my 07zx, which is the same as the 08. BUT......motor mounts are way to thin and low. You heard right about no low end, although I hear it can be fixed with an exhaust mod.
I should have mine geared +7 -1 by the end of the week, I'm planning on killin the streets and the lot with it. I already got a 1000rr for a hb on it and a jerry rigged full throttle rear master.
You can flip the tripple and run clip ons out pretty easy. If you don't like ghetto shit, ho hey makes the tripple for it.
All in all it works for the streets and I've been useing stock gears. I think I'll have no problem in the lots with the gearing I'm throwin on it and the SI cage. I don't plan on wrecking much, thats what the 636 is for.

03 600rr is chinky and just like a board to sit on. you sit on that bike not in it like most bikes. i would say new 600rr. that new electronic steering damper looks like the shit!

i rode my buddies 08 600rr and it felt pretty good he had full akro exhaust/header and suprsingly it was pretty quiet.

but after being used to the 929 that bike felt super gutless but its quick and easy to manuever.. i dont really like the new R6's with teh diamond tailight havent riden one but everybody around here has them.

i would say either honda or suzuki

heres the gsxr

personally i dont even keep up to date on the newest shit anymore. i honestly dont care cus i cant have/dont want a brand new bike. i mean i rock a 900 but id rather have a 929/954. i love the power the 900 has. but i have never stunted a 636. im sure a 03-04 or even 05-06 would be a blast.

Thanks man, just what I wanted to hear. All I plan to put on the bike stunt wise is a handbrake, but I have also set aside the money for a full akro evolution system and a pc3. That should help a little in the power department. Now I just need to decide which color, either the green or the black special edition with all the gay stickers pulled off.

No dealer around here will let you test ride even with cash in hand.

I was the same way but after having only a stunt bike for the past couple years I really miss having a nice bike to ride to work on, hit the twisties, take the girlfriend out, etc.

Go with the 600rr. I have only ridden one very little so far but the one I road had alot of low end and mid range power and I get what your saying about the feeling for riding and wheelies and whatnot but check out convertibars.com

Re: Which 08 600 should I buy?

i had a 07 600rr and set it up to stunt. its a COMPLETELY different bike then the 03 I can tell you that. the 03 is what im on right now. I personally like the 03 and the 07 was 100 times better. handled great and awesome response. was light as hell so it was fun on the streets as well.

but for me personally, I like to have a 1000 for the streets. i keep the 600 strictly a lot bike.

Thanks for the input guys. I had pretty much decided on the zx6r, but now I am leaning towards the 600rr more and more.

I love my 2005 600rr, ive ridden a new 600rr and it felt a bit smaller but it still has the same power delivery, the new zx6r was so gutless down low which made it hard for me to wheelie it, cause i was so used to having the midrange power i had to rev it alot more, felt really un-natural, i havent been able to get a test ride of the new gixxer but that looks awesome, no idea how it would be to stunt tho

The 07 is guttless down low..........but to say it was hard to wheelie.

You should have no problem bringing it up in 1st through 3rd. I'm sure if I wanted 4th would come up with clutch alone too. It has power......just not down low.

The problem you'll find with stock gears is pulling it up to idle from a stop. You have to murder the clutch to get it up. I can't do foot drag sit downs with it, I haven't even caught idle with it yet.
Thats all gunna change once the +7 -1 gets put on this week.
I'm planning on the exhaust mod which should fix the problem, I hope.

Good luck with your choice.

Re: Which 08 600 should I buy?

man I've been craving a new bike, been looking at the new bikes and my top three would be
1. Gixxer 600 the one with the white rims
2. R6, its just sooo clean and small!
3. Triumph 675, havent really seen this one upclose, but nobody has one so its always cool to stick out

Re: Which 08 600 should I buy?

now that i think about it a daytona 675 would be a sick ass streetbike! if not then i agree with sic j, a 1000 would be a better streetbike to take the girl out and what not. speed triples are insane and sexy but only to people that ride. if you dont ride its like whoa that things wierd and ugly. i dont care much what other people think but i know a lot of people care a lot. idk man its a hard decision there are lots of good bikes out there

Re: Which 08 600 should I buy?

i have an 07 zx6 and think its a much nicer bike than the 600rr. both looks and handling. Everyone is right about it not having much low end. drop a tooth in the front and put an exhaust on it and it will scream. Not the best stunt bikes though, as someone already said the motor mounts are over 6 inches long and just about any cage will break them with the right fall. my boys already broken his. They are by far the sexiest 600's rolling right now imho.

I think jumping off any stunted out bike to any of the newer stock bikes, your gunna have that same problem.
