Re: 6 quarts of oil?

i think they meant when the bike is standing straight up on two wheels like as if you were riding not when it is leaned over on the kick stand

Re: 6 quarts of oil?

no he actually said when its on the kickstand. i asked him what he meant exactly and he said the bike should be on the kickstand and fill oil to the top of glass. but i put in 6 quarts and it was barely to the top of the glass on the kickstand. standing upright my oil level is just about a half inch over the top of the glass.. is that bad? the bike was 100% dry also. new engine i just bought.

Re: 6 quarts of oil?

+1 manual calls for 3.9qts....more than 4.5qts and all it takes is a wheelie for fouled plugs and an air box full of oil...i'd definitely run 4.5 to stunt 4 for street

Re: 6 quarts of oil?

forget that whole on the kickstand thing cause that is completely inaccurate. what if your kickstand is bent? like most people said, put in @4-4 1/2 qts and thats it.

Re: 6 quarts of oil?

i know what im doin i starved my gsxr and it spun a bearing last year. that taught me that i should run extra half quart or so. i bought this 900 from mark petrizzo of team risk in conn. and he said fill the oil to top of glass while on kickstand. that took a whole 6 quarts so i questioned that and asked on here. then i rode for 30 minutes and noticed a crack on top of clutch that leaked a lil bit of oil. after i parked i saw where it dripped from and JB welded it. i have it now to where the bike is on kickstand it barely shows on window but standing straight up it is about a cm or so above the window (basically right at top of window). i have it all figured out please dont keep posting in here to tell me i dont know what im doing. it was a new motor with 6k on it that i just put in so maybe that could be why it took a bit more oil. i have it figured out i dont need any help anymore thanks tho guys.
