05-06 zx6 db bars? - Stunt Discussion

anyone running a set on an 05 zx6r with the stock triple clamps?

i think hohey makes a new clamp but it wont let me look at the products online so i have no way of even getting one.

if you have one on your stock clamps pls post some pics

but what i wanna know is, is it possible to drill the stock triple tree since it has the holes in it stock, or do i have to buy the hohey clamps

im looking for an answer to the same question right now, the 03-04 clamps wont fit due to the fact the the stem size hole is too small on the 03-04 clamp to fit on the 05-06 stem, im at work now and going to try and bore the stem hole out on a bridgeport to 1.1 inchs witch is the O.D. size of the 05-06 stem, the size of the 03-04 clamp is .984 witch isnt that big of a change. it looks like the clamp will line up stright just the the hole is to small

if anyone has any insight on this before i do it let me know so i dont fuck up a mint 03 clamp for no reason, only reason im doing it is because i dont have 225 bucks to drop on a hohey at this point

o and i forgot, im pretty sure also putting holes in the 05-06 clamp were the stock triangle things are, are not good enough the metal is too thin there and that the way that its shaped will not be strong enough just my 2cents but then again i dont know either becuase i cant find any info on this subject

just bore out the stem hole on the 03-04 triple and you'll be fine.

and whos using what stabilizer with their DB bars on this bike?

when i go to the db bars i will not be using a stablizer.

im curently sitting at work going to be attempting to drill out the 03 clamps. wish me luck, i hope it works

just drill the holes on the top part above the stock holes, thats what my buddy did just make sure the bend of the bars dont hit the tops of the forks, mess with it before you drill they almost need to mount right at the very edge, and you;ll need to move your ignition

Using the stock triple with metal welded to it.. lookin for a fork-mount damper now

I had the same question when I did my 636. I ended up using a billet top clamp I got from ATLFreestyle that was supposed to fit the 03-04. I just drilled out the stem and it worked great.

I do remember seeing pics of A.C. Farias's bike at stuntwars and he was still using the stock tripple and I think Scarygary was too on his.

It looked like they ran through the stock holes with plastic spacers but I couldn't see well enough to make out what they really had.

Just flip the stock clipons and turn them out and you'll love em. I had Mx bars but went back to clipons after a short time and I usually love Mx bars.

done... used a 1 7/64 drill bit to bore the hole out and 1 1/8 to make the slight angle on the top and bottoms of the holes and works fine, just need to drill the holes for the tag mounts and its done

i tried boring the 03-04 clamps and my f*cking but is super dull so im gonna try and drill the smaller holes in the stock one. if it dont work ill either buy the hohey or try getting a better bit to drill the 03 clamps
