My first whoolies!! :D
My first whoolies!! :D
Well today marks my first wheelies, and I am pumped! I got my SI cage monday (Which is totally kick *** btw) took off my side fairings and for about an hour after work, hit the lot. I read up a bunch on how exactly one should start learning, so although I didnt get very high or wheelie very long, I think i have a good base goin.
Accelerated to about 15mph in first gear, set up my staggered stance and clutched it up. In my hour i doubt i got more than a foot and half off the ground, but mainly i practiced keeping it smooth and concentrated bringing it down with the back break nearly every time.
Reading between all the flames on this forum has really helped me get started, so thx everyone! I'll be doin circles by friday :YEAH
I'm lookin forward to both constructive criticism and sarcastic "Should of"s

Re: My first whoolies!! :D
do u have a handbrake??? if not get one asap. then once u do. both feet back get moving enough to balance and stop real quick and just clutch it to the BP. slow ones are the ****.
Re: My first whoolies!! :D
Congratz hommie!
Sounds like your heading in all the right directions. Staggared, Clutch, Brake, and safe open place to pratice is all you need. Just remember to take it slow, dont get frustrated and impatient. As long as you keep practicing they will come.
Circles on friday!?!? I dunno man, you gotta get HCs and coasters on lock 1st...
Ill give you till sunday for circles.

Re: My first whoolies!! :D
you really dont need brake until you are at balance point....it is to counter act what your throttle does and take you bake to bp...but it is good to get used to being gentle on it while in wheelie position....
Re: My first whoolies!! :D
Yea, i realize that, I'm just gettin used to it so when i reach the point where i feel comfortable to go for BP, the back break is second nature to bring a wheelie down. Hopefully save me from loop/mouse trap.
Re: My first whoolies!! :D
Oh yea when your tired Your TIRED lol dont keep practicing take a break. Seen a lot of people start laying bikes down when they start getting tired. EVEN THo IT IS ADDICTING!!
Re: My first whoolies!! :D
Haha yea, I'm usin muscles i havent used before. Mu left forearm is real sore cause of the two fingered clutch. I'm lovin it through, the feeling when you get it just right and the bike just rises is awesome. Also, I;m gettin some new corsa 3's next week which should help a bit. Im running Power Races right now and those bitches just wont get hot, so their slippery as ****.
Also, gonna try out my 661 pressure suit tomorrow. I was practicing at night today about 56 degrees and no sun, but I was still sweatin my *** of in my leather jacket. Didnt realize it was so much work going back and forth!

haha ur in the lot now but wait till u got em down you'll tearin up the streets, remember u cant get tickets if they dont catch u:YEAH. stick to it and like what jamiedubs said when u get tired take a break, i forget that sometimes and thats when my day is ended short with damage to the bike
Re: My first whoolies!! :D
ive had at least 3-4 bad crashes when i tell myself im going to do one more wheelie.
Re: My first whoolies!! :D
So I'm gettin better now, startin at only about 10 mph pretty much rolling and revving to 6-8k but the bike isn't goin up to far. I'm decently consistent, but it just doesn't want to go higher. I read somewhere that turning up the idle helps, but errr, how do i go about doing this on an 06 636 haha. Also, i read that feathering the clutch could be a problem, but wtf does that mean. Many thanks.
