Depends on the bike.
A buddy of mine that races an R6 runs them and they're impossible to break. His bike's flipped down the track at 100+ more than once and he's never broken one.
But I put them on my gsxr an the stator cover broke after one crash....
Factory racing makes the best covers but $$$$
for the money NRC are good and stronger than stock...

I put NRC covers on my R6. Somehow, my stock cover took several hits and lots of rash. This is unheard of with a Yamaha. It was paper thin, so I needed to replace it. The oil pump cover had some rash on the edge, but really nothing bad or dangerous, which I replaced too. I haven't tested them out yet, but give me time.
Lots of people crash hard on NRC covers. Some people think they might not be as strong as a 1 piece billet, a la Factory and Circuit1 (although don't know about their durability), but that's not really true. They're a very hard, very thick cast aluminum. They weigh more than stock for sure.

NRC
I have an NRC on my bike and have never bent it however my teammate Brian managed to bend his NRC cover which took out his magneto...etc,.... The owner of the bike shop that sponsors us seems to think it was a fluke since thats what he races with. Mark runs a Woodcraft on his GSXR1000. I have seen him put divots in asphault with that thing and it keeps going. I would get one of those if you are lookin for one.

if you can't afford those cases then try just getting some stuff called Devcon. It's a 2 part compound that mixes and is harder than steal. they use it at power houses and stuff. I use it and a lot of my racer friends use it and i've never saw a case cover break yet.
the only problem with hard case covers, if they hit hard enough it snaps the bottom part off of the engine block that the case is attached to....personally i'd rather break a case and have it give verses having my block break where the case attaches to it.
i use an engine cage to keep that from happening but just in case it flexes in too far on a drop (not happened yet) then the devcon should stop it.
engine cage is 300$ shipped and so far has saved me a ton of money, 12's are really hard to learn
