Happens to me! Some times you need to break and come back fresh. Some times it just gets old and I need to break.

Re: Why taking a break is good.

Right now my schedule only allows me to ride on the weekends. When I get on the bike Friday, from having not ridden all week long, it feels like I have to relearn everything and get refreshed. By Sunday I am riding well, but then the week comes along and Ef's my $hit up again. I wish I could ride every day to keep my skills sharp.

Re: Why taking a break is good.

I have been having some days where I'm really "On" and some days where i'm pretty "Off" (and I've been riding regularily ...about 4 days a week or so) ...but I havent figured out what the patterns are (or reasons) but a few weeks ago....I had my most "ON "day ever and **** seemed Like I was in a dream....like there was magic helpin my balance or something !! (and even this I only felt for the first 30 minutes of my session...then it faded )....but havent' felt that again and it's been about a month ...WTF ??

I hate to bring this up ...and I cereally apologise....but a while back....Bibo mentioned practicing every other day...cause that's how muscle memory works ..... Does anyone know if there was any truth to that ? Sorry to bring him up ...LOL later guys

Re: Why taking a break is good.

I took a 2 yr vacation from Stunting, after about 3 non stop years, to enjoy Motocross. In January I sold the moto-weapon and picked up a 929 of which I have had limited riding on.

Tomorrow I go out on the new 636 (zx6rr actually). Its setup 2003 style, gears, 12bar, sliders, damper, no hb, but my goal is figure eights. We'll see!!!

Re: Why taking a break is good.

i just got my bike back from the shop yesterday after being in there for a month and a half . me and a buddy completely murdered the streets yesterday, and it only took me about 15 minutes to get back on my game. now, as i lay here in bed the next morning, i feel like i've been hit by a train. i think every single muscle and joint in my body is sore, and i can only blame that on the time off from the bike. buy hey, if it improves your game than props to you

Re: Why taking a break is good.

I dunno about taking like a week long break, but I know over night helps a LOT..

When I learn a new trick one night, I start doing it sketchy and just barley hitting it..
After I sleep on it, and come back out the next day, usually the first time I do it I have it on lock..

Re: Why taking a break is good.

ur alot smoother and relaxed on the bike when u take a break and get back on, thats y you do so much better.

i didn't have my bike for the past 3-4 days, i've gotten sooooo much worse.

so overall, the more time u take off, the worse ull get....at least thats just how it is for me.

Re: Why taking a break is good.

Listen here boys, it's all in your squidish little heads.

Ride on the weekends, maybe 1 day during the week if your really motivated to get get something down. Thinking about it too much and over riding wears and psyches you out. I'm saying this from experience, being that I used to ride 4-5 days a week, which somehow with riding less I learned more.

If you haven't rode for a week don't think about it when you go to pull up that first wheelie or endo, just do it like you just got done taking a little breather, go out and do it with confidence, and your muscle memory will take over.

- happy riding
