Stunting Popularity In A Decline???

I was reading a thread over at www.sportbikes.ws and the topic was "Is Stunting In A Decline??????" The guy said, "Doesn't seem that hot any more- have you noticed? Or is it just me?"

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this and see what you all had to say.

Hahahahahaha

No way........ The ony reason kids are starting to buy bikes is to stunt.......... "Stuntlife.com" will be a household name in no time, Just like " Ebay". It's just a matter of time before every other T.V. commercial has some sort of streetbike or 50 doin' something. "Welcome to the New Generation" we're taking over. .... Fact is, people are bored and we are gettin' the blood pumpin'

Agreed. I have watched the Members total escalate every day. If stunnin' is in a decline, I can't imagine what the incline would look like.

PS. Nags has freckles???? (he,he)

Speaking for myself...

Stunting will end up declining in populated areas like califonia. There isn't places for us to go. Hence, all the stunners on this board are in or near by the sticks.

Myself, moving from one not-so-populated city to a city crawilin with police has made me not want to stunt. I can't afford a the impact of a reckless ticket, towing, impound etc.

I enjoy stunting it has developed within my passion of motorcycles. The challenge of mastering my bike is one I constantly persue. For the time being I choose to spill this passion into my full sized 50 where I can hide out in back parking lots and deserted streets. Its pretty much only becuase the population is unsuspecting of a small displacement bike. If I was doing the same on my R1 I would have the FBI or CIA after me in a second because it would be assumed I associated with a gang or some other B.S.

There will always be the rider out there more hungry than me and more willing to flaunt the law. I suspect as they get older they will side with me.

Again just my perspective.

all stunters live in the sticks?

Hey "easy" - I see your point but I'm 31 and love to stunt, I still feel 21, ask Thew how he likes stunting. As for all of us living in the sticks, have you seen any of the probably 6 videos filmed in NY, I couldn't tell if those were trees or skyscrapers.

Florida Section...

I see you found that thread Shugga . I had to go in there and compare the Sites Stats .

As I posted in there I do not feel it is on a decline. Yet, riders are getting more responsible and taking it off the streets and out of the general publics eye. This sport has turned hard core and in the process of weeding out the weak. It is what we call "Survival of the fittest". Of course stunting will always remain on the streets, however with all of the newly organized events it will appear to be on a decline to the average joe.

Stuntlife also has a huge impact on why people may assume this. Anybody that is even remotely insterested in stunting has moved over to this message. Not too many people are posting about stunting on .net, Gixxer.com, .ws, Cycleforums, etc. This is our new issolated home for stunter by stunters. You get the freedom to post about your riding style without getting into a flame war with the anti-stunters/Kneedragers as you would on the above sites.

i agree with jimmy, all the talk about stunting has moved to stuntlife, leaving all the other boards vacant!

True true.. I tried not to hit on the age thing, but since you mentioned numbers, I think most of the good stunters are in the late 20's and early 30's.

As for the seperation in the sport (ie. wannabes like me and truley talented stunt riders). It only makes a market for all the shows larger. Think of all the money spend to see a Freestyle motocross event... How many people in the stands can actually triple up a jump as opposed to how many can jump.

Imagine if everyone could triple a jump. There would be no one in the stands.

Decline? No. Something is happening though. It seems that the shock value isn't there anymore. The better the riders get, the harder it is to impress anyone. I remember the first time I saw someone doing a standup. My jaw dropped. I felt a small adrenaline rush myself just watching it. Now it takes someone doing NTH wheelies or circles or both at the same time to get a rise out of us "street hardened veterans" <~~hehehe. It's becoming more mainsteam which makes it seem almost watered down. Do I feel it's on the decline? No ...it's become so popular that it's not as "Gangsta" as it used to be. It's like choppers. If you owned a custom chopper in the old days you were a bad a$$. Now if you own a custom chopper, chances are, you are an investment banker. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this post so go ahead - let the flaming begin

Oh and I agree, it's gotten off the public roads so therefore to John Q. Public, it may seem to be on the decline.

Decline? yeah right

I think Dan Jackson hit the nail right on the head, The reason other boards think there is a decline is because no one is talking about stunting anymore. All of the stunters are over here. No one in this board talks about racing- does that mean racing is declining? NO, There are just certain places for certain things and as we all know THIS IS the place for stunting! So to the other boards.

AGREED STUNTING IS OFF THE MAIN ROADS BUT I STILL WOULD RATHER INVADE THE CITY STREETS INSTEAD OF IN A PARKING LOT. THERES NOTHING LIKE BRINGING THE FRONT WHEEL UP AND LOOKING AT THE CAR NEXT TO YOU SEEING A LITTLE KIDS EYES BIGGER THAN GRAPEFRUITS THINKING THAT IS THE BEST THING HES EVER SEEN. THATS WHY I DO IT. FOR THE LOVE OF IT AND THATS MY BUT I THINK IT SHOULD GO MAINSTREAM MAYBE THE PUBLIC WILL SEE THAT WE ARE NOT JUST LUBATICS. THAT WE JUST TRY TO HAVE SOME FUN. SO THE AVERAGE JOE THINKS THAT IT DECLINED, BUT WE KNOW WHATS REALLY GOING ON

Nope, stunting is growing. Someone said it perfect, the once "new" tricks are old, and no one is impressed. I can barely do anything, so I understand what kind of skills you all have.
