01 929 Idle Problems
01 929 Idle Problems
hey everyone...new to the site....just wondering if anyone had some insight on idle problems for a 929......when the idle is turned up for slow wheelies its very sketchy.....revs up and down....i was told something about an exhaust valve or adding another idle cable.....can anyone help with this......also when doing circles it boggs down....i'm running a 15/54 sprocket setup....i was told to go up some more in the rear...any ideas??
Re: 01 929 Idle Problems
You can only turn the idle up to about 2500 rpm's otherwise it will jump all over the place.2000-2500 is plenty. You also have plenty of sprocket, you have to learn to be lighter on the brake and you can feather the clutch to keep from stallin.
Re: 01 929 Idle Problems
ya, he tells it like it is. i had 2 929's and i couldn't get it to work on either. i tried sync'ing the carbs, no luck, then i tried taking the flapper valve out of the intake and removing the exhaust valve out of 1 bike, that made my low end sucky and didn't help the idle problem. I also tried adding a second idle cable between the 2&3 throttle bodies, still no go....
so basically i tried all the "myths" and mine still jumped all around. i just got used to 2k rpms

Re: 01 929 Idle Problems
I Got A 929 With A 15/60 And I Use About 1500-2000 And Thats More Than Enough Idle.....mine Use To Feel Like It Was Bogging Check To See If You Have Any Play In Your Throttle Cable And If You Do Take It Out And The Bike Will Be Alot More Responsive And Not Feel Like Its Bogging
Re: 01 929 Idle Problems
DUDE...Syncin those carbs musta been a biotch, what with all the fuel injection stuff in the way...
...i'm sorry bro, it was out there and i just had to say somethingbut the answer is actually the same...that is not actually an idle ajuster...it is a fuel enrichener...that is why there is a problem...it's intention was for minor idle and engine warm up...it is not a good idle adjustment...that being said, there is no way to actually calm that issue down. 2000-2500 and you're bike might seem the same. I tried every myth out there...none of the work. If you need a higher idle, you're gonna need a new bike
