Any Downside to 600RR?

I ride an 05 600RR and I was wondering if there are any drawbacks to stunting these bikes. I know the F4i is super solid for stunting, but other bikes have a lot of oil starvation problems and pop engines. I run with some extra oil in the bike for doing wheelies, and haven't had any problems.

I know a lot of people have cranked up the idle and removed a tip over sensor. I have only done flushies, FE, slip on, and HIDs, so none of the stunt mods. I want to get an older 600RR like an 03 to stunt, but always hear just get F4i. Personally I would rather have my regular bike and stunter as close to each other as possible.

Just wanted to know if there are any downsides to my bike for stuntin, other than how hard the swingarm kicks out when you get near balance point. I have nearly looped it in 1st when the swingarm kicks because the suspension is so stiff.

I can only agree with the guys above me. Especially, the twitchy throttle part. What really helps is to get a custom mapped Power Commander. It makes the bike much more controllable and also helps with mid-range torque.

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

I have an 05 rr with slip on yoshi exhaust, bmc filter,pc3, 1down 2 up sprockets and it is agressive as hell.. I love it but I wouldnt stunt it,
the f4i is smooth 1 down 2 up not to twitchy easy to control and strong as an ox..

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

to add to that i think its robbably a good idea to keep your stunter as close to your daily driver as possible, because when I get off my f4i and hop on the rr I have a hard time adapting. power and everything else is way different. not to mention my f4i has db bars:YEAH

See, I haven't messed with gearing, and wheelies aren't a problem. When I first wheelied it it felt really front heavy compared to many other bikes I have ridden, and thought I would blow the fork seals but I have heard they will hod up to 10k of abuse between stunting and riding. The throttle is pretty smoothe to me, but the high BP and swingarm kickout scare the crap outta me sometimes, especially with my yoshi so close to the ground, and the CF cone cap sticks out a bit from the back. The IACV is main reason for twitchy throttle.

Old Man Roger- I am 6'3 and 195lbs so the size is like a toy to me, super scrunched. My sis has an 03 and Mine is 05, and I feel a lil difference between the two as well just sitting on it.

Matching rides makes more sense, because I can do bigger wheelies on my super clean bike, and get even more savage on the cager. So far no major downsides so I am likin my plan more and more. Prolly keep it pretty stock, just tygersharks cage and a round 12 bar, maybe gearchange

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

i like mine
i actually really like the high BP it looks better and feels nice and tall
i agree with the shorter pegs (as mine is 03) so im thinking of swapping out but im not super scrunched just a bend in the legs
the twitchiness you can get used to, just be smoother
i blew a fork seal finally but its been 3 years or more now
overall i love the RR for stunting, but it does have a weak *** subframe

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

I have heard of the subframes going quickly, but the aftermarket replacement ones are pretty cheap. With so many out on the road, I am kinda surprised nobody has made a super beefy unit yet.

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

seat is hard as a rock, and it's wide as hell (in the seat)
i dont think they are twitchy @ all..... well if you ride a F4junkI it would feel twitchy/powerfull because the f4I is a TURD, and has NO POWER..... id compare the power/torque to a 636

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

Bullo's Bike is the ****. I wanna know where he hid the amps for his 6.5 inch speakers in his midfairings near his cage. I also saw some dude rockin like a pink and purple bike @ sears point at last AMA superbikes in the midfield. It was raining so he was doing slides and burnouts and wheelies in the rain, looked smoothe.

So if it has the power of the 636 and reliability of a honda, sounds like the perfect bike to stunt. And the RR has by far the worst seat of ANY bike.

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

yeah bullo sayd he loves his, it's a shorter bike which makes it a lil easier to squirelll around on, he was on it pretty hard yesterday n all i saw happen to it was just over heat after a series of chainsaw burnouts. i'm 6'0, never stunted the bike but just riding one last year felt great i utalize a crunch position like when u race, it's a really nice ergonmic design for such purposes, but freeway top speed feels a bit slugged like the bike wants to blast off but the e-brakes on. hell, i'd get one for stunten if u got the budget cus then if u break a part on either bike, instead of searching for one or ordering n waiting for a replacement till u can ride, u got it already on the other bike.... just remember how n where u took it off from

the 600rr has no where near the low end power as the 636 .....

the 636 will pull on idle harder then any bike out there and the 05 06 636 pulls even harder then the 03 04....

lots of good input on this thread!

...the short distance from rear pegs to clip-ons feels crunched up and im 5'8!

636 doesnt have much power (stock) til mid range & loads of top end

thats funny... i hear ppl say that, but my 04' doesnt pull hard on idle @ all....even cranked to 4g's (no where near my 03 600rr)! could it be my clutches? they dont slip, drag or anything i know...i know......maybe it's the rider

BP wheelies on the rr takes some getting used to but rolling stoppies seems to be easy

Re: Any Downside to 600RR?

GET THA CAGE AND ULL GET REAL COMFY ON THE BITCH

its a more aggresive ridding position too. ull also get used to that swingarm issue when u get more dialed on the bike....id look into the rearsets, my boy in town breaks them all the time, but he doesnt rock a cage....dont hit that subframe, might just wanna look into a stock exhaust can and throwin that on as a bar.....
they are thin brittle and one good wack/tap/loop and ill be buyin a new one

good luck tho also turn those clipons out!
