636 motor problems need help plz...

not getting oil pressure....oil light keeps coming on...then when the light comes on the motor starts to knock after about an hour of ridin...just curious to see if anybody has had the same problem or if anyone knows what i am doin...just need help thx guys....

Thats not good! Do you have oil in it? I'm guessing your pump went out but its just a guess. If your getting it to knock then you probably have some major issues going on in your motor. Good luck man that blows!

well its actually my buddies bike and he does have oil in it. about a 1/2 quart over and added a little lucas in there..pump being out that is a good start.. anybody else have any other thoughts...thx guys

Stop riding it?

Does he change the filter every time he changes the oil?

Does the knock come as soon as it is started or after a while?

Does temperature seem to matter?

im sure he changes the filter every time (hes anal like that and takes good care of his bike for being a stuntrider) but the bike only seems to be doin it after about an hour of ridin. then it starts acting up and u can hear the motor just not sounding right.. and hes not goin to ride it until he figures out what is up.. thx again. more help plz..

it sounds like a main bearing has spun therefore blocking the oil ports in the lower part of the case and that is whats causing the oil light to come on garrantee that if you cut the oil filter in half that it has bronz (gold) flakes in it and that is a sure sign of rod or main bearings. best thing is to stop riding it if you gonna try to fix or ride it till it shoots the rod out the side of the block! :YEAH

try heating up the fuel pump with a BIC lighter.
