Working the crowd
Working the crowd
The weather is gettin better and i'm sure alot of us are gonna start doing more shows and comps.
I just wanted to start a thread on a subject i've never noticed on here by itself: IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO TURN THIS INTO A STICKY :hint :hint
What are some of the things that work / or don't work for you when your trying to get the croud on your side? I think we should put our ideas together for some key points to focus on while doing your run or routine to get the croud riled up.Before everybody starts saying things like "The croud only like simple stuff like Christ and Burnouts and etc."
I know this is what gets em goin most of the time and not the technical tricks like we would get into but what works for you in both areas?
Example:
While doing a NH I do ............. with my hands to get the croud to notice what i'm really doing and to show i got this trick on lock.
I think overall if alot of us put some thoughts together it can deff. bring things up a notch. Good for the overall image of the "sport" by making it appeal to them and eventually maybe they will start paying more attention to the technical side too.
Just some of my thoughts while being a stunter my self and in the croud watching other riders:
I get a kick out of watching riders doing only the tricks they have on lock and having fun with them and making it look fun. Maybe even try throwing in a new trick they've been working on towards then end and show their enthusiasm because they actually pulled it off.
If they look stiff and in deep concentration it kinda takes away from the trick in my opinion. Yeah it's technical, but it looks boring.
I also like to see tricks back to back even if it's a simple burnout between them, the appearance of non stop action isn't that hard to pull off if you throw basics in there.
CROWD PLEASERS - Where yall at?

Re: Working the croud
Its all interaction with the crowd. you have to figure out what they want to see and give it to them. play to them. it's hard to describe really...
A lot of it is personality! I think the key is interacting with them though... some riders have it, others dont. I agree with you on the technical tricks, waste of time with most crowds. Heck, i hardly ever do anything very hard when doing a show, id rather do the easy stuff that i can do in my sleep, look like im having fun, and play to the crown WHILE doing the trick!
This probably sounds like babble, like i said, it's hard to describe, but learn to play to the crowd and interact with them and you WILL have them with you!!!

Re: Working the croud
you spelled crowd wrong like 4 times or so, but you got it right at the end
on a serious note, crowds like burnouts, acros, bar tricks, and stoppies, they also like fast choppy cicles.
if youve ever seen rus-extrem ride- he has the perfect style for shows and amazing the crowd...

Re: Working the croud
Im a noob still, I do no shows.
Re: Working the croud
ive been to alot of shows (spectating) lol and the crowd just like loud **** like revlimiter chainsaws and coasters....those pump up the crowd more than anything i think....
Re: Working the croud
From a CROWD perspective, I noticed that everyone was really into doing flips off the bike someway, really long endos, and tricks that nobody earlier in the comp has done.
It's different from a rider and spectator views. A rider cheers when they see someone doing a trick they know is very difficult. The ordinary individual cheers when they see something flashy or dangerous.

Re: Working the crowd
acros break em off--also some times we will have freinds in the crowd also to sorta point out some of the technical stuff or if i see someone that has high energy in the crowd i will just ride over to em and tell em to help me get everyone pumped up for a certain move or stunt coming up--of course announcers and a megaphone helps for this
Re: Working the crowd
Here's a good way to start: begin by looking like you have never ridden a motorcycle in you're life. Then fake a gorrilla scrape-bring it up real quick and catch it right before the tail hits-stall then jump into a spreader LOL. They will freak because they already think you're garbage. Drama is the key!!

Re: Working the crowd
Nothing works better for a show involving little kids than a 4 wheeler.....even when its on all 4's, Throw the crazy techical tricks and the 600 ft stoppies out the window. Little kids flip over a 4 wheeler that can barely ride a wheelie.....I know its a little off-topic.

It doesn't sound like babble it's hard to describe like you said.
What I started this thread for was to get people to throw in their input that can work a croud. <<<Whay do I keep doin that?
Just list some techniques that you do on different tricks to play the CROWD.
examples:
When I do circle burn out i like to try to pick a different person to shake my head at each time around or stare at them till my head won't turn any farther.
No hander I do the fast little gay wave at my girl or put my hands behind my head, point etc.
stall jump, right after you stop the bike you have to do the nod at the crowd like "Yeah, that just happened!" then look at them as you ride the wheelie out.
I like the way A.C. cools his feet off after a skitch.
There's a ton more just want yall's
