Will JB weld really work on that? I just spent about 135 bucks on a new cover.......i can't afford that shit everytime I break one.
And I have a feeling I'm gunna break a lot more.

Re: Cracked stator cover "pics"

Well I got my stator cover JB welded the other day and I put it on my bike tonight at work. Its all good so far. I'll know for sure tomorrow when I go ride. The pic is shitty but u can still see the jb weld. I put the cage back on too, it was a pain in the ass to get it to line up because it was bent, but I got it on finally.

Re: Cracked stator cover "pics"

that cover you just bought is awesome!!! i have one on my bike and don't have a cage because the motor mounts are stripped, but it has held up to a few slams and a few flipped endo's! and i slid down the hiway at like 75mph and picked it up and rode it home!!!!

Re: Cracked stator cover "pics"

Well, an update on the cover. It seems to be workin ok, I've noticed that its leaking a tiny amount of oil though. I think thats because I didn't use a gasket when I put it back on. Oh well. I don't fell like draining all the oil out just yet to put a gasket there, plus I'll prolly crack it again within a week anyway so I'll do it then.

By the way, I cut my exhaust can down to about 11 inches last night. It took me about an hour and a half to finish, it turned out really well. I'm gunna post some pics of the entire bike up soon. As long as I don't total it before I get a chance to. lol

you dont have to drain the oil just lean the bike over and the oil wont leak out when you take off the cover

Yeah man, thats def what I'll go with after my FI gets so bad I can't use it. Right now a damper is more important. I'm bidding on ebay for one right now, it'll be my Christmas presant to myself.

Oh yeah.

I guess I can have a couple buddies lean it over while I fix it.
Does anyone know if I can use the liquid gasket stuff from the auto parts store? Or do I need to get the paper gasket thats ment for it?

Re: Cracked stator cover "pics"

you can make the gasket out of gasket paper [sold at all auto parts stores] if they dont have it in stock at the local bike shop....then i like to spray that gasket sealer stuff in the bronze can ....damn i cant remember the brand name.....any ways the stock gasket is very cheap
