They don't match up at all. Just go to your local honda dealer and buy a 50. You will never regret it.

That is what I thought until I learned that you can get a 50 for no money down and the low low price of $97 a month for a year.

the ones you mentioned(ktm) are all 2 strokes and single speed.think 5hp minibike gas and go.and by the way id say a ktm mini pro 50 would cost way more than a stock xr50.even used.just get an xr.you can never go wrong with honda.parts ar not avil as easily for a ktm around here and not at all for a husky

Theres only one thing all motocrossers will agree on Hondas are the highest quality bikes.I hear that the extreme 107s have a great motor.Other than that the quality of the parts are very low.

Re: how are other fiddys besides xrs?

ok cool thanks guys, im going honda anyways with a 929 soon so mine as well keep it real with the 50. thats not bad (97 a mounth for a year with no money down) the only thing is i have no credit, just got a credit card a little while ago so i would probably have to have my mom cosign (which she probably wouldnt cause she already hates me having a car and a bike when i have to pay for college to). but thanks for the info, ill go to a dealer and check it out and see what the deal is. if not ill just save up and get one privately. thanks for the help, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If your talking mx department, honda 2 strokes SUCK but their 4 stroke own. And if u compare a xr50 motor to a crf450 motor your so off. I know size, but ur 50 is made to be very mild and easy to ride for a 3 year old. CRF (racing, not the new 50,70,80,100,150,230 models) are strictly a race breed. If honda made a racing 50 it would easily have 5 horse. And if you think honda cr250 is good cause charmicheal ride one, u think anything on that bike beside frame is stock? Thats a 60,000$ were talking there. So basically, honda 2 stroke suck, their 4 stroke mx own, and their trail 4stroke suck. And 2 STROKE OWN :YEAH :YEAH :YEAH. Get a ktm 65. how can you go wrong with 17 horse out of the beast?

Re: how are other fiddys besides xrs?

2 strokes do not have a cam or valve train its like intake stroke & power stroke = 2 strokes. they also have oil mixed with their gas to lubricate the whole engine. 4 stroke has all them parts and 4 strokes called = intake, compression, power, exhaust. they have regular engine oil that can be changed same as car engines. which boils down to a 2 stroke having more peak power but only on the top end (high rpm), and 4 strokes having more broad torque curve (low rpm power). this makes a 4 stroke more user friendly when riding wheelies.

that is the best explanation of the difference between a 2 and 4 strock that I have ever heard! simple and understandable...... bravo well said, I finally understand. BTW just buy a 4 stroke honda crf50. check this out

Re: how are other fiddys besides xrs?

I doubt they would deny you financing on a 50 unless you had really bad credit. 1,100 isn't that much risk for them to finance. As for the 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke, the 2 stroke will make more power per cc of displacement, and are "snappier", but they are a lot more difficult to learn to wheelie on. They are also too loud and smokey to ever think about riding in a suburban neighborhood or parking lot with houses nearby.

Re: how are other fiddys besides xrs?

If you have any more questions ... www.howstuffworks.com has a really good article about the two ..with animations...niner forgot to mention that the 2 strokes make more power the fourstrokes make more torque at lower engine speeds, and its torque that your using to pull up the front....

If you make like at least 12000 a year with zero credit most likley the will give you the 1200-1500 credit you want.Give them a call its free to see if you qualify
