I've read every thread on here, and the pdf from two brothers and i just dont get how the forks come apart, ive got them completely off the bike, front tire is off, and i have the snap ring out from underneath the dust cover, but the bottoms aren't sliding out. what else has to be done? thanks

Re: getting forks apart

you need too unscrew the two bolts that are up on the handle bars, they hold on to the top of the springs

+1 I forgot about that for a minute when I swapped mines out.. once you unbolt the two on the triple clamp the whole front fork assem. should fall right out...

Re: getting forks apart

lol yea i know that, those are out too, like theres the forks are completely off the bike, two bolts are off the top, tires off, c-clips are out, and i'll take and ram the bottom part of the fork out as hard as i can and it wont budge

Re: getting forks apart

problem solved and this is a good tip for anyone that buys a used bike and the previous owner had swapped heavy duty busings in

there fit so tight that i had to put just the axle through the lower forks and wedge a bottle jack inbetween that and the triple part of the upper fork, 5 tons of pressure easily slid those bushings out..
