Steering Dampers??? - General Sportbike Discussion

Just wondering what exactly do they do? I'm a newbie so dont hate....

doesnt anyone know what a steering damper is for?

stabilizes your steering so if you try to move ur handlebars left or right, they will stabilize back to center. good thing to have to prevent wobbles.i shoulda had one when i wrecked

They help ,they come on some bikes I know gsxrs come with on but there kind of steep to buy

and dont skimp, you get what you pay for. i wont ride with out one now. saved my ass many times!!!!!!!!!!!

once you ride with one you wont ride with out one.....a dampner takes all of the head shake out of the bike....its very helpful when your rideing at high speed and doing wheelys

they are always selling new dampers on ebay. I seen some awhile back for around 300 ( Scotts ). Just have to search the net.

i have a dampner from shuggs on my 900rr, i like it, has done well for me.check out the store.

not only do they prevent wobbles (either from speed or if you land wheelies crooked), but they also help hold a better line in corners. i'll never own a bike without having one. they're expensive, but the best $$$ you'll ever put towards your bike.
