NO because there is no way that thin *** helmet will protect anything.

If you land on your head while wearing the Kaiser Chrome helmet you can expect to either be dead or have some serious brain injuries. That spike would go throuh the helmet and into your head like butter.

You can get a real helmet and wrap tin foil around it.

Well, there's no spike on that helmet, but I heard you say this somewhere else. What makes you think that these spikes would slice through a helmet and into your head? I'm pretty sure they would break off before they had any chance of protruding through your helmet. What are your thoughts?

I would think those spikes are dangerous in the helmet. They could be driven in any direction depending on the impact and I'm sure it's possible to go through the helmet into your head.

Back to the topic, yes there are DOT approved chrome half helmets, they won't protect you even close to a full face but they will prevent some head trama...so as long as you don't mind road rash on your face.....

Where can I find these ? I don't plan on doing any serious riding while wearing this helmet , I just want it to wear when I ride down the street to friend's houses .

That's when the a$$hole that doesn't see you will pull out infront of you......when you least expect it.

I've seen them in shops around here, I would say check out some of your local bike shops. Inspect the helmet closely to be sure they didn't just slap a DOT sticker on it. It should have substance to it and not just be an M&M's shell.

let those who ride decide.. If you're gonna be stupid without a helmet or with an inferiour helmet then darwinism will take care of it, no skin of your back...or face...

I'm not saying it couldnt happen , but there are no side streets or anything so I'm not worried about it . If anything , it will be a deer pulling out in front of me

I don't want this thread to turn into a helmet/safety discussion . I only wanted to know if there were any helmets that style that are DOT approved ... so if I happened to get pulled over , the cop can't say anything about the helmet.

why is it all the New Yorkers wanna sport the **** skid lids.... wearin somethin like that around here would get you shot at.
not to mention.... that has to be the stupidest looking excuse for a helmet i've ever seen. if a guy wadded with one of them on, about the only thing it would protect would be his hairpiece.

Link doesn't work

Edit : I found the Vega xts through yahoo , still not what I'm looking for though . I could probably get away with wearing the novelty helmet , I doubt a cop will realize its not DOT approved if one happens to see me .
