Why is it when your lights are off... - General Sportbike Discussion

So my headlights are on a toggle switch and often I ride home at dusk, sometimes its dark and I dont always turn em on... yet people feel the need to flash their lights at me as if I am the only one who doesnt know this....

Here I am thinking my lights are just not that bright, thats why its pitch black in front of me....

Um, people flash tehre lights because no one thinks anyone in there right mind would KNOWINGLY ride around without headlights, at night time, ESPECIALLY on a motorcycle..

Take off your helmet, and speed, and I'd call it 'suicide'

If you have a head light, why would you WILLINGLY turn it off?? I mean seriously, what possesses you to turn your headlights off at night??

You know, its illegal to ride in the day time without a headlight! It's all to keep you safe...

I have a half ass stator, running my lights full time will kill my battery and my bike will eventually die. I ride the daytime all the time with no lights and no problems. Occasionally on my way home the sun is going down and I make the trip without em ( 4 miles )

running your lights for 4 miles won't kill your battery

and if it does, your battery is already fucked.

Are you sure your stator is bad? Or is it your voltage regulator??

Stator's bad.

Been checked and not producing enough voltage due to broken wires.

Problem lies with the owner of said stator.

blah blah blah.... if my battery will maintain a charge without running my lights its better than draining it everytime I ride by running my lights

just hook a battery tender up to it at night then. they have these type of connectors where you can screw it into your battery and the other part hangs down in your fairing and you can quick disconnect.
