kick stand sensor?

i have a old 97' gsxr srad that i stunt with and was out riding around the other day when my bike died. It blew a ignition fuse due to a bad wire.. I fixed the wire and replaced the fuse and the bike started just fine... So now to my problem.... i went to go take it for a ride today and shifted down to first gear and the bike died... so thinking i had forgot to pull the kickstand up i checked it, and it was up... long story short i messed around with the kickstand and sensor for a good half hour and still cant figure out why the bike wont run when put in gear.. only runs if its in neutural... i even cut and spliced the sensor wires to bypass the sensor and still no luck..... any ideas anyone

Re: kick stand sensor?

prolly not the sensor then. had pretty much the same problem with my 750 once, turned out to be the clutch cable. tightened it up on the lever and it fixed the problem...... sorry, wish i could help more

Re: kick stand sensor?

hmmm i'll check it out but would be surprised if that was the problem unless someone thought it would be funny to adjust my cable where i leave my bike parked.... but the clutch still felt the same.. thanks tho

Re: kick stand sensor?

yea case closed... found the problem... somehow the 2 kickstand sensor wires came unpluged up under the tank... just pluged them back together and taped them up and works great once again...

Re: kick stand sensor?

If ur wires are cut and bypassed on the kickstand side of that plug.....Later down the line u may catch a problem similiar to what u had. Except that plug build corrosion up in it over time. Which in return gives poor contact to the wrires on the kick stand side of the plug. Basically it opens the circuit and the bike thinks the stand is down........Cut that fuxin plug off and hardwire/solder that chit....=-)
