Re: looking to gear my superhawk

+9 -1 isn't too bad. you'll still get 130mph out of it. but it will seem like you are screaming the shit out if it to maintain 100. haha.

I'm at +10 -1, tops out just over 130. I use it as transportation as well as a stunter, and on the freeway you are kinda working it to go with the flow of traffic. Gas mileage is still good though (on mine)

Re: looking to gear my superhawk

Do you ride lots with this bike? Why do you want to gear the bike?

The fact that its a 520 and the specs on the chain say 600 max scare me. Get something stronger.

Re: looking to gear my superhawk

i do ride a lot with the bike looking to still do the twisties hear and there (i'll change the gears if need be) but riding 60 + miles a day just for fun or getting to "the spot" and then have fun imm looking to start working on slower wheelies and with the stock 16/41 i just have a hard time keeping it up longer

Re: looking to gear my superhawk

o ya and as far an chain strenth the 520 mike master chan is 8400lbs tensel and the 530 is the same i also hear with the 520 it a lot les spinning mass witch helps get going better but im just tossing around idears and im waiting for my cage to come in and that might just give me enuff to work harder at slow speeds

Re: looking to gear my superhawk

tenisle strength..... a 530 is Bigger. heavier side plates on the chain links.

60 miles a day? some people go as little as +6 w/ stock front, that wouldn't kill your top end nearly as much as +9 and -1

ohh, and I say REV THAT SHIT!

I run +15 on my f4i, and I regularly travel 150 miles away on it.

at 70mph, its only at 8.5k rpm.. Not too bad, just bring some ear-plugs lol

Re: looking to gear my superhawk

I mean, some stunters kill that shit w/ only +6. then again, some guys kill it w/ stock gears.
