Anyone ridden an XR650???

I've been wanting a Super Motard bike for the longest time, and am ready to pull the trigger and buy one. Only problem is I don't really like any of the obvious bikes out there right now. The DRZ400 is the closest thing out there, and it's way underpowered for my big ass.

I don't want a Super Duke, or Hypermotord, which to me are just 400lb streetbikes dressed up like motards. I also do not want to convert a full-blown dirtbike into a motard for street duty, cause I know it'll need constant maintenance.

I'm also a big Honda fan, so I was looking at the XR650's. Looks like new ones can be had for right around $5k, with nice used ones in the $4k range. The styling is a little old school, but with a nice exhaust and some acerbis dress-up pieces, I think I could get it looking decent. And a 650 single should be plenty of power. Add $2k in wheels/tires/brakes/suspension, and I should have a bad ass motard, right???

I'm just wondering if anyone has ridden one and might have any advice.

Thanks.

- Jason

those are great bikes never ridden one as a motard but they are super fun off road and hrc makes some cool stuff for them, if you get one i would suggest a mori system and do the air box mods right away
