regular seizing

do you guys seize up your dirt bikes alot from wheelies? my xr75 just blew up, and im not going to fix it if its just going to blow up again. im guessing it was from oil starvation since i had been doing lots of wheelies. i havent really looked far in it yet. if this bike is going to blow up again, i will just go buy a kx65, but i really dont want to.

yz250 is a 2-stroke, so wheelies dont really starve it for oil. unless you mean yz250f not trying to be an ass, just sayin

Re: regular seizing

nah fix it and run like a 1/4 quart of extra oil so when on a wheelie your motor wont starve for lubrication

Dude , it's a 1977 xr75 . When was the last time it blew up

A new kx65 is about 10x more expensive than your bike , a 2-stroke , and alot smaller .

Re: regular seizing

actually, an xr75 is freaking bulletproof and i was astonished at its blowing up. this thing had 30 years of getting the shit beat out of it by kids and their dads, nothing wrong with it at all! except the carb. i went ahead and threw a new top end on there anyways. then it blew upi a year or so later

Who rebuilt it? What 'blew up' on it this time? When you rebuilt this motor did you check all tolerances? Replace ALL bearings? Check the engine thoroughly? Replace the oil pump, valves and guides, and check the cam??

a 30 year old motor, you can't just slap some rings in and expect it to last another 30.. That thing is ready for a whole new motor!

Old honda 4 strokes you can run WITHOUT oil, heatsieze them, let them cool down, add oil, and keep riding!
