DRZ or zx10?

Looking to get a second bike in not too long, assuming nothing unforeseen happens... I'm unsure if I want to get a zx10 or a drz (sm model), both have very strong pluses and possible negatives, just trying to see what you folks say.

Re: DRZ or zx10?

with the SM youre gonna get more fun out of it..
with the zx10 youre gonna get a more oh shit out of it

i'd say go for the zx10.. depending on the year.
i would suggest for the 04-05 best looking ones to me.

Re: DRZ or zx10?

drz is much cheaper as far as initial cost and insurance goes. and you wont have to pay as many tickets lol. and they have to be a lot of fun. as far as long term rides they arent comfortable but then again neither is the zx10. id take either one lol

Re: DRZ or zx10?

bumping this thread back up... seriously considering an 08 zx10 now, but the drz is very tempting b/c it costs about half as much.

Re: DRZ or zx10?

You gotta have them both.... the zx-10 gets you girls and you have to ride the drz to cope with them..... thats my 2 cents

I hated on the 08 at first, but I'm really starting to love it's ugly looks.

My only fear with getting the DRZ is that I will just stunt it, the main draw for getting the zx10 for me is because I want a pretty streetbike.

Just sold my second Gen 1 ZX-10R and am now riding an '07 10R SE. These bikes are a blast, they are built like a tank for the most part, as with any bike there are things that need to be done to keep them ridable/stuntable.

The Gen 1's have the Ram Air tube issue, they break if you slam the bike down hard. Fix, don't slam the bike down. The headlights(get HIDs) and brakes suck(06+ 6R or ZX14 brakes). Geared really low. Head shake, My 1st Gen 1 did it, my second didn't, weird.

Gen 2: Head Shake like a motha(tighten stearing head, add better damper). The Bodywork is held together with to many screws and plugs. Low geared but not as bad as the gen 1. Headlights and brakes suck, still. Higher weight due to duel undertail(425lbs wet stock). A more refined bike(smooth, stable when not shaking head).

These are the things to look out for. There are sooo many good things though.

edit* heres the bike I just sold, so pretty lol www.sublimesales.com/zx10r.htm

I have no experience with the '08. It's a little faster from what I have read. It's uglier from what I have seen in person. You can get one for $11k otd.

Ideally, I want to get a motard when I sell the 929
