![]() | Re: who started on a 600 You can kill yourself on any bike. Having a little restraint and common sense goes a long way when you're out in the skreets. |

I agree with you. But one thing that also helped me was that i started on a bike that had bars and not clipons. I feel it was alot easyer to learn with the bars. ALso the sv had alot more controlable powerband i think. | |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 It's all personal preference. I think most wrecks are caused by panicing and people flat-out not knowing where their controls are... |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 I started on a Gixxer 750 and moved into liter bikes. I have an 1100 that gets about 10 miles a year put it due to the fact that I love my 600 and thats all I ride. Its more about personal preference and common sense. |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 Looks like you have a dirtbike now so that helps, so did I. When I got my first street bike it was a 750 Ninja with a fully built engine that would out run a brand new R1 like nothing. BUT.... I was smart on it and took it easy until I was fully used to and comfortable with the bike and the power potential. My other 2 friends who got bikes at the same time both bought 600 Ninjas and they were great for them to learn on. So unless you just get a little bike for snot much money I would say go for the 600 that you like and are willing to keep for awhile, just be carefull and take it easy. |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 i started on an 86 cb650 honda cruiser ! it didint have much power but it was fun and it was my first bike . fast forward a couple years and now i just recently got ahold of my current bike a 97 CBR 600 F3 ! and i found out really quick ........... once it gets up in the rpm range ...its a fast bike compared to the older hondas and just about any cruiser or harley ! as far as being a good beginners bike im not sure . it would depend if you have any prior experiance like on dirt bikes or quads then maby ........ but if your just used to dirt bikes , quads or even cruiser style bikes then a later model 600 sport bike may be too much . but like somone previously said , resraint and common sense will go along way to then point of if your a smart person and have self resraint from going tooo gun-ho where you shouldint be then an Even bigger bike might be ok . i guess i could have summed this up to ........ Its all in how you ride ! ,Justin |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 find somethin that you feel comfortable on, clip ons or bars, if you dont like the clip ons put bars on it. i started out on 2 strokes & now dont own 1. a 600 is a good starting place if you like inline 4 bikes they are greatly rev hungry, where as the v twins are more low down torquey like a single, test ride anything that interests you at the local bike shop. ride safe & good luck. |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 it all comes down to self control and responsibility. like it was said before you can kill yourself on anything. but its just a bit easier on a 750 or 1000 vs a 250. i have friends that have got 1000's as their first bikes and babied them for a long time and now they are awesome riders. i have others that got 600's and n 2 weeks tried to clutch up in 1st and got dominated by the road. |

![]() | Re: who started on a 600 My personal opinion is someone thinking of buying a 600 for a TRUE first bike, street dirt whatever should consider buying a dirt bike first, and ride around that for awile...Sand, grass, dirt is more forgiving than Pavement. •But my first street bike was a 600 |
