Re: anyone have any collar bones w/ pins?

My collar bone looked just like Ho Hey's and I also didn't get pins and didn't bother with any kind of physical therapy. There isn't much they can do for you beyond loading you up with painkillers which will not help the situation.

I broke mine a few states away at Summit raceway and got stuck driving home through the night in a hospital gown and sportbike boots. Worst part was I couldn't even reach over to change the radio so I listened to static for hours at a time.

Enjoy the reprieve from life and I'd second the recommendation not to take the pain meds. Beers help a bit when your going out but you really want your body to be able to remind you when you move some way that you shouldn't. By the third night it won't be so bad to sleep on your back. Dave

Re: anyone have any collar bones w/ pins?

ya the pain is no problem...I stopped the pain meds long time ago...only bout a week of those. the collar bone never has hurt, its the aching muscles in the shoulder and back that drive me nuts. I had to ride the bike home with the broken collar bone too...which was a bit shitty

Re: anyone have any collar bones w/ pins?

no bump for me...wont have a plate either. its some sort or screw type rod that is put in through the end of the bone and in 8 weeks that will be removed and then it will heal exactly as it should and will have no nasty metal shit in there

Re: anyone have any collar bones w/ pins?

Broke my right side 3 times 2 in almost the same spot and one in another, I need to dig up the films on that one, 1st time is healed in a few weeks with no movement and barely left a bump, the second time it healed in about a month then I broke it closer to my neck and no have some numbing but nothing I cant tolerate. Oh and to top that all off I dislocated my should on the same side 4 times and deal with it coming out of socket once in awhile. I would pass on the plates and that rod shit if it will heal normally. Bone heals stronger after a break which is probably why it broke elsewhere the third time. Take it easy and let it heal you should be fine!

Re: anyone have any collar bones w/ pins?

the surgery center is discounting my account 60%! my surgeon said that they basically quote that high because they have to do that to every person. that way they can charge the shit out of the insurance company...lol if they offer me a lower price because of me paying cash payments then they are commiting fraud! Good for me! heres what my $7k rod looks like...lol
