imo buddy brought it upon himself for rippin him off.. I'm not usually down with messin with people's vehicles but if you do nothin then buddy's gonna get the idea he can rip people off all the time.. i wouldn't let that slide

You messed up and he lied. bikes are always sold as is so you gotta checkm out really well. confront him about the cdi since the shop has record and ask him to pay half the cost of a new one or somethin. if he doesn't make it right tell people he's no bueno and live and learn.

thats exactly what i do. i have a spare key still to every vehicle ive ever owned just in case.

but thats mostly your fault for expecting to trade up for a 1000 with no cash exchange. you shoulda looked the bike over better and thought something must be up. you shoulda waited till you got it running to trade your bike with his. i say fix it sell it and buy another one before anything else pops up. learn a lesson and dont make the same mistake twice. we all get one.
