Anyone else feel that with the new Gixxers?
well considering they dont really make any power till 6,00rpm i`d say you were just scraed cause it was new!! i bought mine off the show room and went 500 ft then 2nd gear bounced it up to do 7 miles, the real breakin proceedure!! later that night to go to a party an 18 mile wheelie on the hwy in 3rd gear!! didnt semm to have any problems!!

just a few!!

glad you said something about that..... now check this **** out. from time to time i rock the streets on my 06R6, and i have done a few trackdays on it... hella drag racing, and the clutch is starting to get some age on it. i have a barnet race set at the house, but have been to lazy to put it in. i was ridin the bike the other day, and when i do a wheelie on it... the bike feels like it will loop seriously. not from the height, but it feels like the clutch is pulled in... like i am doing a coaster.

so i didnt know what the **** was wrong with it. i got on my friends 06, i didnt feel it... i got on another one.... didnt feel it. i was like why the **** is this happning. so i was on the freeway the other day, clutched up 4th, and the bitch slipped hella hard, then came straight up.

so i was like could that be it??? so i went to do a slow 1st gear when i got off the freeway, and was rockin it.... rolled it back, and i stayed off the brake.... there it went.

with the slipper clutch limiting alot of back tourqe, when the clutch starts to slip, you have none!!!

so i am slapping the clutch in today, and i will see whats-up.

He speaks the truth^^^^^..........It has nothing to do with the engaging of the clutch or how it does while powering up. It works by allowing the clutch to slip a small amount so that the rear tire doesn't lock up and chatter when down shifting hard and using the engine break. My 01 didn't have one and would skip and chatter until the Rear tire speed would catch up to the real speed. Also I had 23k on the original clutch and if it slips on the way up or during its SMOKED or close to it............that’s what my would do. Plates are worn out and slipping NOT an affect of a slipper clutch.....no slipper would ever do this due to the way it’s designed for down force on the clutch, not power out.......come on IF you raced you would know?

UMMMMMMM YA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Just like you need to check your blinker fluid ......................LOLOL

I hope you were KIDDING?????

Here right from STM SLipper clutches:

Going faster in the corners is not just about HP, it's about smoothness and Traction.
It's about the riders ability to load up the tires to their limit of grip and keeping them there, just before the point they let go.
The Rider can fine tune his suspension and chassis set up to help this situation be predictable and accurate. What you do not want is the rear tire locking up in a high speed corner or coming into a slow, hard braking corner. The fastest way through a corner is smooth progressive deceleration and acceleration to prevent any wheel hop.

Another side effect late braking, is the chance of pushing the engine through its redline and damaging the motor. The rev limiter only works by cutting the throttle. It doesn't work if the rear wheel is turning the motor over at a faster speed.

That is why many newer model bikes are coming standard with "Slipper Clutches".

The point at which, the clutch releases and the level of drag designed into the clutch is setup to make a real difference to the way the engine braking affects handling and the suspension set-up required as a result.
You can read interviews with racers developing a new racebike, quoted as saying that "The initial set-up depends on the correct adjustment of the slipper clutch, this is most important".

but on topic.... the new 06's (all of em), have nothing downlow, dispite what the dyno says.

the R6 is worst of all of em, you really have to rev the **** out of it to raise it from a stop.

The thing with the 06 r6 though is, since it can push 19.5k rpms, you have to throw the rpms on before you slip the clutch. Its just something you gotta get used to cause the torque points are preportional to a bike that pushed say like 12-14 rpms. I mean, when i first got my r6 i was all about new sprokets, and now that i got used to it, i can ride em out and its still stock. Its just what your used to working with

it only revs to 16.8k

i can walk this bike on 1 wheel all day, but what i am saying is it takes thousand more reps than my 05 does, only because the power is above 8k.

but.... i can raise the thing up from 1mph if i want, all it takes is technique. no big deal
