f4i salvage questions

I just picked up an 02 f4i. It has a salvage tittle, but there are a few complications. The bike was bought at argo cycles by one guy. He never put the tittle in his name. So he sold it to another guy who just used the original tittle given to the first guy from argo cycle. Now i bought the bike and being the moron i am didnt realise the tittle wasnt in the guys name i bought it off of. Im wondering if this is going to be a problem. I just bought it wanting to learn slow stuff in parkinglots. Does it need to be registerd to my name if i just want to ride it in the lots?

thanks in advance, and sorry if it doesnt make sense.

Argo should be able to get a new title and xfr the correct name on it. Argo woud be the last Legit name on that Title from the DMV.

Re: f4i salvage questions

who cares about all that? why pay money to transfer the title into your name? you can't register it for the street anyway, since it's salvage, just leave it the way it is.

Re: f4i salvage questions

Actually this was another question i had. The day i bought it i brought it to a parking lot. As soon as we unloaded it a cop showed up. He said that because it wasnt registered we had to leave. Do you need to rigister the bike just to ride in a lot? I know you should get waiviers signed.

Re: f4i salvage questions

it's kinda wierd what's going on these days. here at a lot in sacramento, my boy just got his bike impounded for 30 days and a wreckless driving ticket in a parking lot that the bike was trucked to (no streets) and it's private property, and these bike cops came in and he was doing a 180 stoppie and it was over. pretty f'd up stuff.

there are so many little laws that dont mean anything but you could go to jail for...

bottom line is cops can do whatever they want and if they dont like you or what your doing then they are going to fVck you

if it doesn't come up as stolen, they're not going to arrest you....that's being a little over dramatic. if they impound it, then it might be a good idea to get the title transfered. or if you wanna fix it up and get it inspected and re-title it, fine, but I wouldn't pay $150+ to transfer it to my name until one of those two things happened

myself and GregGros8 both live in MA. things are a little different up here i guess.

1) it only costs 50 to title a vehicel.

2) i wasnt referening to him gettin arrested for the bike being stolen. like i said, if a cop doesnt like you or what your doing. they WILL find a way to screw you over. be it with tresspassing or gettin a reckless or DTE or anything else they can think of. please re-read my previous post and this will be a little more clear to you.

Re: f4i salvage questions

here they charge you sales tax when you transfer the title so whatever you paid for it, you gotta give them 6.5% of that

Re: f4i salvage questions

This thread is about title transfer.... wether he gets charged with tresspassing, reckless, or DTE....has NOTHING to do with whose name the title is in. you're way

and if it did get impounded... I'm 99% sure they would release it to him if he showed up to claim it with an open title in hand

Re: f4i salvage questions

Thanks for the replies. I didnt mean to start an arguement. A couple stickers on the bike say FTP so i might as well go with that. I have a lot 50 ft from my house so hopefully the worst that will happen is they ask me to walk it home, but the cops have been know to be ****s around here. I might as well just live and learn. Thanks again.
