Anybody had this happen?

This happened to me last summer, but I forgot to post it. The ol' clutch cable broke on my bike. I had just pulled in to a gravel prking lot to play putt-putt golf. I stopped my bike and started to back into a parking spot and next thing I know the bike is lurching forward and I'm spinning gravel all over the place. Kinda, caught me off guard. Apparently the ball on the end of my clutch cable that sits in the lever had popped right off! So everybody make sure your cables are in decent shape!

Re: Anybody had this happen?

mine snapped just as I put down an apehanger... looked like it got caught around the rad and ripped the cable in half. I found a longer thicker one in my parts bin so that worked out well (not sure what it came from). I definetly keep an eye on it now to make sure it won't happen again cuz bad **** can happen like that flip with kyle woods on that 900... damn that was nasty!

Re: Anybody had this happen?

I've had a throttle cable break, and a front brake lever break(this wasn't fun, dropped the bike because of it). It happens, unless you replace stuff at the first sign of wear and tear, but that's if you can afford to

Yeah, my first thought was that I was glad it happened to a clutch cabled in a parking lot, and not something to do with brakes going down the highway.

Wouldn't the bike have stalled out??? = bike in gear, clutch cable retainer comes off??? It would be like letting the clutch out to fast..... something doesnt sound right about that story???

non he just said he was in gravel so there wasn't enough friction or resistance for that. even on pavement it could take off if the idle was a little higher
