Make a sticker stating number for next of kin, address, blood type etc. Slap it on your lid. Seen lots of fellas doing it in South Africa, cool idea.

 

Not a bad idea, but I gotta go with "Z"...... Screaming histerics ****, I'd put my buddies numbers under ICE & tell them to break the news to the family..... I dont want my moms hearin' that im dead from a stranger, ya know?

 

I'm a Firefighter/EMT. Ive never heard such a thing. We usually just check their ID :P

It's pretty rare that you can't track the identity of someone. The only people I run on that prove to be hard to identify are people who wouldnt have a cell phone in the 1st place (ie: crackheads and bums). Most people we run on are in cars (which have registration), and most of those people carry drivers licenses. It's fairly easy to track down relatives with a known name and address.

It is a good idea to have numbers such as "mom" or "Dad". There has been one case where we checked the cell phone (For other reasons), but we simply went to the recent call activity.

 

Hmmmm, that kinda shoots the I.C.E. theory to Sh*t huh? I think it depends on every city and every situation, still not to bad of an idea.....

 

I have a local motorcycle shop "Cycle Gear" buisness card with my emergency contact info written on it in my wallet.

 

The paramedics look for ice in my phone book there gonna get a stoner friend of mine... Dont think hell do much good.

good idea. Problem is, if your phone survives the crash, hope that someone does not relieve you of your wallet,phone and other valuables before the ambulance gets there . Some people can be really uncaring here at times.

Yes Sir, i was a first responder, it's not in the line of direct concern for the paramedic. Because if they took the time to mess around with a cell phone, then who would be making the call to tell the family YOU ARE DEAD because you wasted time. I have seen In Case of Emergency stickers for windows on a house, and cards old people have to put in their wallet. I think the closest thing to this that could aid bikeriders, are the "Please Dont Remove My Helmet" which could save you a lot of suffering, and keep you the possibility of riding again after recovered.... but the sticker looks lame, so i doubt the masses will adopt it.

 

Two of my buddies are EMT's/First Responders, and neither of them have heard of ICE. Better just get the numbers and names tattood and hope they dont change their numbers. Also, my old boss was killed on his bike, and he was the only person who had my # at the shop, and nobody could call me to tell me he was dead because his phone was destroyed on impact. Cell phones are less likely to survive a crash than you or your bike.

 

It's so weird that this "chain letter" came across so fast even here,
and mainstream TVs has been speaking of it as the latest tech goal in history...
But here, they talked about it like if
you can leave an ICE number for having info on your bloodtype,
or real-time health history from anyone concerned... ( say, you're allergic to some meds, you're missing both lungs from previous crashes, or you have a bullet in your brain since you were 12 )

to me, it's B/S. How come your plastic ID card, your plastic ( in here ) driving license
hasn't survived a crash, and yet a cellphone can?
Some old school bikers, mainly touring steel-asses
still have their blood type sticker on the helmet, wich is the savyest thing you can do, i think:

there's a million crash-proof systems, that seems like being the dumbest.

 

Well we've heard from paramedics on both sides stating that they DO or do not use it or heard of it, but the fact that some HAVE & DO is good enough for me.
It MAY be very helpful info to have that you do or do not have any allergies, blood type for immediate transfusion, etc.
I do NOT always have my wallet on me, and even when I did I recently did not have my ID for a couple weeks. I could not be identified if I was on a friends bike or car.

ICE is in my phone, which being a MDA allowed me to add the subtitle IN CASE OF EMERGENCY to it, and list my mom's multiple numbers, my sister, & my bf, as well as a note to refer to the NOTES tab, which I utilized as an addendum to state the following:
-My birth name
-My alias
-My blood type
-No allergies
-DNR if I will be brain dead or severely brain damaged, to harvest & donate my organs as much as possible, and to cremate the rest, distributing among any desiring friends & family to do with as they each see fit.

This is only partly for the paramedics/hospital/police, and partly for my family or any responsible for carrying out my last wishes. It cannot hurt, and can relieve any confusion or questions, easing the burden on an already troubled family.

 

I've heard about it, but never thought or saw it to be real when i was a first responder.. the only thing we looked for was bracelet or neckelace. I wear a red tag in my shoe/boot lace cause certain stuff can and will kill me fast, and since i'm near a base, they WILL look at it. Cause military, if your alregic or anything they give you the tag for you left boot. I had an extra and threw it in my shoe.

And i refuse to be an organ doner for this reason:

IF you are an organ doner, and have a lets say 5% (for the sake of evenness) of living, But they need the organs, theyll not take as good of care of you for the organs

if your not an organ doner and they know they CANT use your parts, theyll take the 5% chance and try to save your life.
