'Paramedics will turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's
identity. You can make their job much easier with a simple idea that they
are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE.

ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. If you add an entry in the contacts
list in your cell phone under ICE, with the name and phone no. of the person
that the emergency services should call on your behalf, you can save them a
lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly. It only takes a few
moments of your time to do.

Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately. ICE your
cell phone NOW!

Please pass this one along! '

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

My phone has an ICE feature, but its the new Voyager and it's already complicated enough as it is so if I'm depending on the paramedics to use the ICE feature on my phone I'll be dead by then.

Re: ICE ICE baby ICE

I am an EMT and could not care less about whats in your phone. If you cant talk to me you are getting a tube down your throat, IV's and a back board. Shoe laces are a great place for them cause if you wreack on a bike prepare to have all your clothes cut off and just wearing a helmet (unless it is obstructing your airway). I personaly have a tattoo of my social below a bar code tatt on my ankle. While working at john hopkins TRU (Trauma Ressication Unit as seen on discovery chanel) I saw plenty of people come in as john doe's. Lots of them got robbed and shot, very few were bike accidents. We only used the phone for one guy in a bike accident but that was fished out of his clothes after he got off the chopper. It is not my job to call people and alert them to your medical status.... Sounds stupid but a lil thing called HIPPA says it aint none of your buisness even to mom and dad of an adult. One of my best friends crashed his bike 3-4 days after he turned 18. Only his liver worked on its own and his parents were not allowed to make the decision to pull the plug that was an emotional and long 2 weeks till the big man upstairs took him.

Here is my final advice------ Give someone you trust a MEDICAL POWER OF ATTOURNEY------- make sure you trust them and discuss in length what decisions you want them to make on your behalf in diffrent situations (I dont advise Mother-in-laws!)
